Pre-heater

Can I ask everyone with a diesel to look and see if they have a pre-heater. When you open the bonnet on the right behind the headlight is where it should be. I don't have one and was wondering wheter I should have one! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

VA, in my experience LR blow hot and cold over these ('cuse the pun please!) On the TD6 and TD4 they fitted them some years and didn't others. My Freelander came with one fitted but not connected up (which made it very easy to buy a timer and switch myself and get it done for cheap) the RR TD6 I had was fitted with a heater that only operated when the temperature fell below 5C and I had to pay extra for the timer (which was well worth it on cold mornings).
I think that both those cars had them as that was how the engine came from BMW.
On the Sport I have never noticed the telltale little exhaust pipe in either the nearside (RR) wheelarch or under the front valance (Freelander) or the plume of smoke on icy mornings so I assumed they don't fit them to TDv6's. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

OK VA, you aren't the only one not to have one............. I've just been out and checked and there is only a whacking great empty space behind the right hand headlight and a load of loose cables, so I can only assume that someone's pinched mine! Laughing

Should we form our own subclub for RRS's without preheaters? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I haven't physically checked. But when it was cold there was a plume of tell tale smoke coming from the F/O/S wing.
In any case Webasto tell me they are close to releasing a timer conversion for this heater and are testing the product at the moment. Wink TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

England 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Rimini Red

Apparently I’ve got one, VA says so.

I have to take his word for it because right now the car is so caked with mud I only know I have an engine because I got home. 11 XFR

08 RRS TDV8 HSE with the good bits taken off the first RRS

05 RR Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red (Rimini Brown at events), Stormer wheels (original 19's for events), PTI, towpack. TV tuner (now driven by an employee)

1923 Ford Model T (serious ground clearance)

FFRR TDV8 Vogue my07 (wife won't let me use it in case I go to Salisbury with VA in it)

plus some other bits n' pieces

Hope so, as I want the timer when it comes out. There was also a hint of diesel smell coming through the vents when it was cold and it warmed up more quicky than my old car running on petrol. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

...you should all have one on the TDV6

...and the smell is the fumes from the fuel burning heater (FBH). D3 has had a SW upgrade to help the heating system avoid dragging in the fumes... RRS should be same I would imagine.

Unless we beta test everything (chassis, engine, control systems etc etc) for you before its let loose on the RR brand Wink
