Night time setting for Sat/Nav

Hi I am finding the sat/nav screen too bright at night, when the lights are switched on the dash lights dim so why not the sav/nav screen as on my other car, can anyone tell me if there is a way to set this up please. Michael

Mine is random. Sometimes it dims, sometimes not. Sometimes it dims much darker than other times. Sometimes it is so bright at night, I have to turn the screen off. Matt

The Navigation screen brightness already adjusts due to ambient light. There is a sensor. But as with any sensor, it's never perfect.

Play with the brightness setting and you should be able to come up with an OK compromise.

I have had this issue , it seemed that if you turned the ignition off and then on again the screen was not as bright. My RRS was in at the dealers yeaterday and it had multiple software downloads , one of these was meant to fix the screen brightness.

Hi
The dealer told me they had updated the software . There does seem to be some change , but it still seems bright on first start up , but then dims down. Previously it had to be re-started to get the correct brightness, so it seems to be better.

The other issue is the TMC does not auto tune and shows up as not available ? anybody else seen this ?

TMC is totally unreliable. I constantly have to retune to Classic FM. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I've not had any problems with TMC and I've never noticed it not being available. That would suggest to me that it isn't therefore a generic problem.
Sod's law says that when I go out to my car tomorrow, TMC won't be working Wink

Not sure if mines running on windows 97 or XP Wink Bloody software, how can we tell easily, without involving the dealer, what version software our cars are running on ??????? We should be able plug our cars into a laptop then dial-up into LR and check ourselves Very Happy

I want to know when it will be possible to never visit the dealer for fixes like this, just get the car to dial in to a main server which diagnoses any SW faults, checks for automatic updates, then downloads and installs overnight while it sits in your garage.
