Now even beastier

Got a bit carried after spending a week in and around Lithgow and Newnes with some off-road friends followed up with the RRC training day near Mt Walker and decided to splurge on some new off-road and go-fast goodies.

Upgraded to the dual battery system, got rid of 'the plough' and put in the Mitchel Bros tow hitch and just had a performance chip put in today.

The battery is pretty much standard fair but a big thanks to the guys at All 4x4 in Newcastle who did a great job fitting both the battery and tow hitch - great work.

Took the camper for a test run with the new hitch and its fantastic. Gets rid of all the horrible problems and levels everything out. Much better balanced and a must-have accessory for anyone wanting to tow with their Sport (or D3).

Had to cut the rear cover panel for the recovery access in half and shape to fit around the new hitch but you wouldn't know it was now two pieces. Fit's perfectly and covers the hitch surrounds making it a very neat install all around.

Will post some pics as a follow-up to this post soon.

Have only just driven back from Sydney having the chip installed and noticed a huge difference in the medium range acceleration. From 40kms through to 100 there's a lot more gumbo from the pedal.

Still have that traditional lag under 40 at take-off but it is still an improvement over standard.

Only the snorkel, racks, nudge bar and driving lights to go. 'Black Betty' Java Black RRS 07 TDV6

As i understand it Zilch, the air intake supplied as an official LR part is only an intake but can be modified to become a snorkel.

Am investigating options at the moment with m service guys up in Newcastle.

Will keep everyone posted on the results. 'Black Betty' Java Black RRS 07 TDV6
