How Much Does Your RRS Cost You P/A?

Evenin'

I'm trying to get a rough idea of running/maintenance costs per annum for the RRS, so a few questions if I may, if you could also state what model of RRS you own it would be most helpful.

So, If I could ask you please, how much do you spend on the following per annum:

1. Fuel (Based on what mileage)
2. Insurance
3. Tax
4. Maintenance I.E Servicing
5. Repairs
6. Upgrades.

Thank you. 'Not one singe person on this earth can change their past, but, every single person on this earth can start today and change their future.'

Re: How Much Does Your RRS Cost You P/A?

1. Fuel (Based on what mileage) - About a tank a week (£85) - 17,000 a year
2. Insurance - Difficult to say (part of a fleet)
3. Tax - Road tax - £400 a year?, company car tax - £700 a month roughly
4. Maintenance I.E Servicing - £1,000 a year
5. Repairs - £500 a year
6. Upgrades. - nothing now, I have done everything I wanted, spent so far - £4,000

Mine is a funny situation though, as I run mine as a company car but own the company I incur the car tax and all the company costs, although the money used to pay for the car, fuel, road tax, repairs and servicing is not income taxed. I'm sure a lot of people are in a similar situation.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I run my TDv8 privately, I don't worry about the costs as it gives me a lot of pleasure and I don't drink, smoke or gamble so it is my vice. I do about 10000 miles a year, it gets serviced at the local dealer or LPR for about £500 a year, fuel is about £2000 pa, modifications -nil, VED £400, Club fees for offroad days - £100 pa. Insurance 2010/2011 has rocketed up from £200pa to £400 this year but that is still competitive as it includes offroad use and recovery! Last year it also had a £250 "detail" which I repeat this year. There was a one off addition cost this year as well when I bought a set of 4 x 19" D3 wheels with hardly used Goodyear MTR's for £750 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi Tim,

I've been lurking around for a while and this is my first post. I noticed that you have a TDV8 but only cover around 10k a year. I don't have an RRS yet but am considering both the deisel and V8 petrol models as I only drive 8-10k a year.

My question is, given the nominal miles that I drive, would I be better off saving the money on a second hand car and going for the petrol version? I drive a Lex RX300 at the moment, which returns 16-18mpg around town and maximum 28mpg on motorways, so the shock of the RRS economy won't give me a heart attack.

Cheers, Stu

I run mine as a 100% work car so I can deduct some depreciation at 22.5% per year on a reducing balance, interest, fuel and other expenses against my taxes. I travel quite a lot internationally so I don't do huge mileage (km here)

I don't have a pounds key on my computer but converting from local currency the figures are as below:

Payments: 750 pounds per month (9000 PA)
Fuel: 100 pounds per month (1200 PA)
Service: Free for 3 years
Insurance: 40 pounds per month (480 PA)
Registration (like road tax) 32 pounds per month (384 PA)

TOTAL: 11064 Pounds per year

Tax and depreciation refund in 2008-09 FY = 8970 pounds

Cost to me personally = 2094 pounds per year.
