Transmission problem

I dont know when it started happening but I only have 22k miles on my Range HSE

and when the transmission goes into 3rd gear it wont shift out of it. So ill be going about 95 kmh down the road and it will be reving high and wont shift into 4th. Big Cry

Anyone have any ideas about what could be wrong?

I also blew out my front right tire and put the cheap spare they give you in place of it. Maybe that somehow is tricking the computer?

Thanks for any help. 2007 RANGE ROVER SPORT HSE BLACK ON BLACK

If the spare tyre (or any of your normal tyres)has a significantly different circumference to the others,it will indeed show these symptoms, ( wheel speed sensing and everything associated with it, will be affected). A few people have had this happen when an 'odd' sized tyre is mixed. I'm sure it will return to normal when you get the right tyre / wheel back on. RRS TDV8 Buck Blue (no, not now in my dreams). ..........D3 TDclankety clankV6 ............BMW 318i

Yep... and also note that the spare has an advisory limit of 50mph (80kph)... Whistle

Best slow down and get the tyre replaced Thumbs Up

Re: Transmission problem

I know this is an old post, but didn't see a response to your question. Did you figure what was wrong? I am having this issue now too. with my transmission. Dealer can't seem to figure it out and says it does happen when they drive it. Ugh!

Ok, my 2009 RRS just strated doing same thing. In Drive it will shift at about 20 mph and then 30mph and thats it stays in 3rd. Sport mode works ok. Dealer said to disconnect and reconnect battery. Anyone else having problems?? Thx! Mike mike murphy

If your tyres are all the same size /reasonably equally worn(as per my much earlier post above),the only other thing I have experienced that causes the auto box not to change up, is if you have changed a brake light bulb recently for a non LR one, (sounds daft I know), but faults in the brake light switch or circuits can inhibit gear changes, and if for instance the filament in the brake light bulb is of a lesser quality than ideal, this has caused the auto box to behave as you describe, and flummoxed a lot of people, until OEM Bulbs have been fitted, and all is well again. Have you or your dealer fitted a dodgy brake light bulb? or do you have a faulty brake light switch? This is just another possibility, it may not be your particular problem guys. RRS TDV8 Buck Blue (no, not now in my dreams). ..........D3 TDclankety clankV6 ............BMW 318i

Auburnrangerover, my car started doing same. Dealer said try disconnecting battery to reset system which i did and still wont shift out of 3rd. I can put it in sport mode and can manually shift it up to 4th and 5th for what its worth but it will be visiting dealer. mike murphy
