Hi Steve, Hope your car is running well, and staying shiny! Mr. Green

If you can't source the aluminium trim for your side step, I'll try twisting some arms to get you a new step on the cheap. Wink Feel the difference... Feel Alive!

Hi Gary
car looking good still, daren't park it anywhere now, runs well, can notice a bit of improvement, thanks for your prompt and friendly service

thanks for offer of some help with the side step, hope you can twist those arms as I really begrudge paying out for new steps for the sake of a small trim piece, look forward to hearing from you

thanks

Steve

The same has happened to mine today whilst washing it. I noticed they were loose and when inspected they simple lifted away from the step plate. The original silver trim was rivoted on. These can be drilled out or chiselled off and then replaced with a self tapping roof sheet screw in the existing holes. Took about 30mins to do the pair and now as solid as ever.... hope this helps

Hi Steve

Did you finally find a solution or resort to purchasing the new side steps. Just 'lost' my trim on my 4 year old RRS - can't believe it dropped off as the car has done only 9,800 miles!

both of mine has gone to, bought the car (private) without them on, seller told me you can get them for about £30 on ebay. what a load of crap, been looking now for about three months aint seen none only full complete steps.
this is a real problem with these steps, be a good thing if someone could somehow fabricate these, make a fortune, probably cant due to copyrights etc.
for anyone reading this and has the trim still on there car at mo i would take precautions now before they fall off its only a matter of time, self tapper scew at each end somehow would do the trick.
but if anyone knows where i can purchase these please let me know
thanks

Same happened to me, i contacted dealer who repaired F.O.C, i asked about replacing them both with new as the car was under warranty but they said no. It is a common fault according to them.

Funny everything with a RRS seems to be a common fault.

After reading this I checked mine today and one is not attched and therefore loose at the front. Can these be fixed back on while the steps are in situ? Is it just simply a case of drilling out the old and using the same original hole and self tapping screw? Would you suggest drilling all of them out and fixing all of them more securely, or just wait until nature takes it corse and fix as and when?

There's only one service centre here on the IOW and I'm not sure I can be bothered to take it to them if it such an easy fix.

Out of curiosity, how old do side steps tend to be when they begin to fall apart?

Nik.

My car is 07 with 35k, but I don't think the milage will have much to do with it..I think it's just a bad design. I just fixed mine, stick your head under and take a look, it's pretty self explanartory. Drill out the old and pop a scew in.
