RRS 2006 HSE SAT NAV

Is there any upgrade for the sat nav system on a 2006 RRS HSE. The one fitted does not allow any changes when moving and does not show the phone contacts list.

Later models do both.

All you need is to get the latest DVD - it will upgrade the system when you first insert the disk and allow "nav on the move". However, this isn't connected with your phone contacts list. Phone compatibility is to do with the model of phone you have and which BT module you have in the car.

Have you checked your levels of support on the LR website phone checker?

Thanks shmoogle, I take it the disc is available from my LR dealer?

The phone is compatable and works from the steering wheel paddles, the system just does not allow the use of the phone contacts list but the RR and later RRS and Disco4 does, the disco4 also allows a connection for the IPOD.

Yep, for a princely sum.

Which phone is it you are trying to use?

According to LR the discs are £150.00 plus vat, from NavTec they are £135.00 plus delivery and vat, LR also say that the unit needs to be connected to their computor for the changes on the move to be programmed, the whole operation taking about an hour.

The phone is an Iphone which is working OK.

Apparently there is a mod called "phonebook over bluetooth" which can be installed and takes about an hour.

So for the whole thing costs about £320.00 and for that you get the updated European road maps, updated post codes, changes on the move and phone contacts list viewing.

Do not misunderstand me I am not enthusiastic about what I have been told.

Is there any one out there who has had this done and knows a cheaper way?

I do not want to spend that amount on the mods, I would love for someone to come forward and tell me that I can get disc so&so from X and it just needs changing for the one originally installed and it will do everything I want for £7.37

How long should I hold my breath for????????

Drop mick a line at either: gilluley@hotmail.com or info@eurosatnav.com he has sorted a lot of people out with up to date discs etc on the bmw X5 site, tell him what you are after and for what car, I'm sure he will be able to do something.

The BT upgrade you're talking about does exist, but it ended up not working all that well for everyone. There's a post on here about it somewhere - I'll see if I can dig it up.

As for the Satnav upgrade - the disc is all you need. You can source them at discount to forum members from either Lookers parts dept (see the Sponsors Page) or from Nick at Yeovil LR parts (PM The Large One over on the D3 site).

Thumbs Up

I'm sure the Sat Nav "Changes on the move" feature was just enabled by going into an engineering
menu and entering a code. I remember getting this info from the forum when I got my 1st RRS
in June 07 & it worked on my car. I tried to find the post so I could paste the link but couldn't - sorry Sad
