I was going to arrange this anyway when i get the RS4, probably for end Aug/Sept as i have to wear my engine in first.

But basically, i found there is an airfield in east midlands which is 2.2 mile straight, which opens to public every now and then.. this would probably be a more suited venue for us brits, but yeah i would definitely attend if the nurburing came about as a meet..

yep.. know anything about it?
all i know is, the RS4 apparently does not have a limiter kicking in during its 5th gear drive, and has so far been recorded top end at 178mph, people reckon it will hit 190mph without too much problem, but its finding a legal area with enough ground to do it on..

Not that i would probably, but still 150mph would be a thrill i think.. have done about 140mph in various cars, but nothing more then that..

Yeah, Bruntingthorpe's a proving ground used by all sorts of manufacturers and journos wanting to do high speed runs. I think it's the longest straight in the UK...

Actually a good day out would be a blast round the Alpine circuit at Millbrook then onto Bruntingthorpe for some high speed runs. The high speed straight at Millbrook is only 1 mile, so you run out very quickly at high speeds before having to jam the anchors on again... Evil or Very Mad

Can u actually get up to these kinds of speeds on the autobahns though? no members of the public getting in the way, or other slower fast cars?

Never been to Germany or driven on the autobahn, so have no idea..

Kam,

I wanted to do Brunty in the M5, but was always advised to do track days in your own car when the tyres are nearly shot anyway, and you are due a service soon so that you can have your brake fluid replaced at the same time as you'll knacker it on the track.

I never got round to it in the end, EVO magazine have quite regular sessions up there so you get to see some exotica.
