Audi S8 for a RR Sport TDV 3.0 HSE?????

Hi Folks
Not sure if I have just made the biggest mistake of my life but last Sunday took the wife out for a run and happened to pop into the local LR dealership anyway to cut a long story short and after a really impressive demo I ordered my very first RR Sport in Legano teal with Ivory...but have i done the right thing bearing in mind I am trading in a pretty awesome and totally reliable Audi S8 for something that in all fairness has had lots of reliability issues.. I'm hoping like hell that I've done the right thing and perhaps thats why I have come on here looking for some moral support or should I get a grip and cancel the order asap!!! Shocked

Forums like this always seem to be full of problem posts, people just don't post to say " My car has not gone wrong".
Understand the nature of the forum and trust in your instinct in buying a great car from a great brand Thumbs Up

From S8 (5.0 V10, 450bhp) to RRS TDV6? Shocked

Interesting move. Wouldn't the RRS S/C be a better proposition performance wise? Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

It depends on what you like.

You like security and comfort buy a RRS. With a RRS you have a better view. (Very helpful in the city)
You like power drive a S8. Wink Compare to a RRS 3.0 TDV6 the Audi is a rocket. Wink
You have to buy a RRS Supercharged (5.0 liter V8 and 510 HP) Very powerful but it needs much more gas than a S8. Wink

Mmmh....maybe your right,never tried the S/C so can't really say. I have to say I was impressed with the 3.0TD and if I wanted to then there is plenty scope for improving things with a re-map

S8 performance is jaw dropping and so is fuel consumption which at best is 16mpg...can only imagine what a 2.5 ton RRS S/C is going to be Big Cry

@wackyjim:

16MPG = 14 liter/100km. Land Rover says the RRS S/C uses 14 liter/100km. I think it needs much more.
The "old" RRS 4.2 liter Supercharged used about 20 liter/100km. Some says 22 (10MPG) and the other says 15 (15MPG) liter.
The S/C will be also jaw dropping. Wink But not a RRS TDV6. I'm sorry....

Heard a rumour of a possible new 4litre diesel for RRS..if true it might make sense to wait for that..Im sure that with a couple of tweaks to the ecu it should give it the performance it deserves without burning a hole in the ozone layer

The rumour you heard is only partly true mate. It will not be a 4litre but a 4.4 litre Ford V8 Whistle In the FFRR apparently available in the first half of next year.Don't know about the RRS. Though, still not as impressive as the 5.0 S/C Cool

Sorry to ask the same question, but what makes you want to swap a S8 for a 3.0 RRS?
Ohhh, how about a TDV8 instead? You are free to collect any day if you leave the S8 with me Laughing

A 4 liter diesel engine?
Maybe a 4.2 liter but only maybe.... and maybe in 2 years. Land Rover build a brand new engine this year. Tdv6, tdv8 and S/C.
