I have been informed verbally and unofficially that my car is in the high seas. ETA 3rd week March. Allowing some time for paperwork, PDi etc. the car should be on the road before mid-April. Inshallah!

There is a shroud of secrecy here regarding the specifications of the vehicles coming in. Officially, nobody is saying a word. However, a little bird on the inside did provide me some information and I find some of it disturbing.

For example, on an official LRUK document, some of the equipment mentioned do not make sense. Apparently Active Cornering Enhancement (ACE) is still being mentioned as fitted to the RRS. As far as I know ACE was only on the Disco 2, period. I can understand if a layman refers to the Dynamic Response as ACE, BUT for Land Rover to use this term on the RRS...?

On my order form, the Trim code is known as TCQ, meaning Ebony Sports Leather. However, LR mentions Ebony Embossed/Std Lth/PVC Sts. Hopefully we're talking the same.

And I was told that my car will be a 05 model. It seems this car has been sitting at LRUK's warehouse for the past year!
I was hoping for a 06 model as then most of the initial problems would have been rectified. It will be interesting to know what kind of pricing LR will be asking for a 05 model in 06!

Bobby, some countries/regions have different rules about model year designations. You'll see the actual build date in the door. Virtually everywhere else, the "first year" of RRS is MY2006. I wouldn't expect more initial issues. That's what the Disco 3/LR3 was for.

Grommet, you're right. But VIN that go SALLSAA335A***** - the 5 is for 05 model.... . Current models have a 6 in them. Malaysia Boleh!

Unless there are VIN variations that I'm not aware of... that would be correct. I guess it is very possible they need to "pre-build" for release in certain regions. I'd be very curious to see the actual build date. Good luck!

Grommet, mine is an exceptional case. The local LR dealers ordered these units way back in early 2005. Due to some import problems, all the units were held back. According to LR all the preordered units were kept in a warehouse in LRUK, pending clearance from here. However, it has taken more than a year for the problems to be solved (I hope they're all solved). So UK is now shipping those units out to us. Hence the 05 models. Malaysia Boleh!

Yes, I understand that current cars must be 06 models but, as I explained above, my car was built 05 and kept in the warehouse all this while!!

I shopped around for available slots across dealers. My dealer had 3 available slots for the first week in April. This has now been moved forward to the last week in March (LR customer delivery date of the 31st)

It does pay to ring round the dealers...... Currently: Carbon Black 535d

My original delivery date was the 19th April. Which was approximately 9 weeks from date of order.

I'm now 'hoping' to take delivery on or before the 24th of this month.
