Riddle me this:

Why can i get a fully optioned RRS HSE in the states (see pics) for under $72,000 which equates to about $82,000 with the current exchange rate?

Is LRA bending us all over a bench and sodomizing us with a 2"x4"?

Hey Zilch,

Apols for not getting back to you. Didn't get this until this morning. Had a weekend away from the laptop.

Luxury tax certainly does make an impact but you're right, we are getting smashed by LRA.

They need a good kick in the goolies.

Went to Castle Hill - great day. We were expecting more exhibitors though.

Decided to give the sport a go at the ramp as no other sports seemed keen to have a go. Unfortunately they tagged me as soon as I started losing traction. Think I could have gone up another couple of rungs. Got a great bit of video of it as the back RH wheel came up off the deck.

Noticed that someone had their 06 sport with only 42000kms on it for sale for $56k - not a bad price. The car was in mint condition. Almost tempting enough to buy it and have a matching set Razz

All, we had a look as well at the Expo but the deal with my wife was we also had to go to IKEA in the afternoon. I didn't see the ramp Jimmy was talking about (unless it was the Dieselgas one!)

A RRS with a Rear Diff lock will contine up a ramp till it falls over. This is where chickened out at our training area.

Hoping to get up there for the Advanced course in October, could possibly meet up as we will not be far from the Hunter, maybe a good place to stop over on the way back Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Yes - put it in rock crawl but only in off-road height, not super extended. Was a bit of a last minute decision at the end of the session and couldn't remember how to put it into full extended. Thought of nudging it into the wall for 30 secs but decided against it Wink

Didn't think it could be done manually???

Unfortunately wont make the advanced course now as we are heading down to Albury to pick up our new off-road camper trailer with all the bells and whistles for our trip to Fraser the week after. 'Black Betty' Java Black RRS 07 TDV6

Hey Steve,

Saw your ride at the show and actually took a pic of you and the sport next to you with matching snorkels - looked great.

Tell me more about the rear diff lock. Still a newbie when it comes to mods for these. 'Black Betty' Java Black RRS 07 TDV6

Jimmy, the locking rear diff is a factory fit option. I've not heard of one being fitted post production, but I suppose anything is possible. It would probably be cheaper to trade maybe.

One thing I do know is that it makes a huge difference off-road in tricky situations. We have run identical specified vehicles over the same piece of controlled test track (with the same driver) and the vehicle with the locking diff went through without any fuss. The one without would have to resort to tricks such as riding the brakes slightly to make the traction control more effective. It would get through but with a bit more effort on behalf of the driver.

ivery819 watched and commented on how easy mine went around the test track at the last Canberra 4WD show.

More images of the test track are here.

Hey Steve,

Thx for the heads up.

Will look into it some more. There has to be a way to retrofit it without it costing thousands.

We had some fantastic dealers up here in the Hunter who were product focused up until about 10 years ago when LRA decided to prostitute themselves to the highest bidder, putting more emphasis on their image than the product.

I've found some good input from older original dealers who really know their product. Guys like Murray Rumble (now Gastek) up in Dungog and the Triggs family in Toronto (Est. 1945), who were some of the oldest land rover dealers in the country and just love the products.

LRA seem to have forgotten that the main reason they experienced such fierce brand loyalty was the result of decades of product development and was not in any way related to the marketing aspects.

They need to stop trying to be Censored and get back to why they exist in the first place - Censored great products! 'Black Betty' Java Black RRS 07 TDV6

Yup $122k on the road for the 3.0 is steep. That's pretty much what the previous TDV8 would cost!

Assume you used MLR?

Got it since saturday (and lost my license from Sunday, ouch....motorbikes just go too fast with me on m...)

Its stornaway grey, nice dark tint all around. LOVE it. 20 inchers are a bit tame but def make it look smick. The best little feature are those LEDs around the headlights...I know, Audi etc went there before, but now at least this has a bit of a face too.

Engine is still getting loose, just 150K on it, but already feels stacks better than the 2.7 burner. RRS 3.0 TDV6 MY10 Stornaway/Black, Sunroof, P/Shift, 20" Style 3,Tow Pack, Mem Pack, AHBA. Delivery Oct/09
