Rear towing point

How strong is the rear towing point? if in an off road recovery situation would it be sufficient or is there an accepted place to put a couple of jate rings? I suppose the same question could be asked of the front recovery/towing point.

If these towing points are not up to it what is there available in the accessory market eg steering guards.

Thanks

Those are proper recovery points and they are attached to the chassis, all you need to add are some shackles with an SWL of at least 3 tonnes (breaking strain of the shackles will be 15 tonnes). AFAIK it isn't possible to fit JATE rings to an RRS or a Disco3 or 4 without taking out seriously large bits of body!

Mantec make all the right protection and recovery bits for an RRS - and you can buy them either diredt from Mantec or as part of the G4 pack from your friendly dealer.

Both front and rear points are attached to the chassis and strong enough for a snatch recovery or to hang 3 other RRSs / D3s off - there's a LR video on youtube with this. Thumbs Up

Thanks. It's good to know that I don't have to throw away all my old bits of kit I used to use on the D1 and D2 Thumbs Up

Good video, think I remember seeing it when it first came out. I presume, when they did the lift, that they weren't using the recovery/towing points but connecting direct to the chasis.
