WANTED : TDV8 HST

Hi All,

Looking to buy a TDV8 HST, prefer a 2008/09 model in either black or grey. Would like to buy asap, and have money ready and waiting. Actually agreed a deal on Friday, but the car is on SOR, and got a message yesterday saying the owner ha come back looking for £500 more - which I find a tad annoying after agreeing the deal.

So, if anyone has one that they are looking to sell or were going to p/x in the near future, then please drop me a line.

Cheers Bradders

Speak to any of the supplying dealers or Kam from MHC. I'd be surprised if nothing positive comes from any of those conversations Thumbs Up

Sorry, but I am new to this site - what or who is MHC?

Have had a look on the landrover website stock locator, but find that the forecourt prices being offered seem quite steep - the car will be a temporary purchase, for between 3 and 6 months. I've not owned a 4x4 before, coming this time from a Gallardo, so want to dip my toe in the water. If I like the experience, then I will more than likely order a new 5.0L s/c model.

For this reason, I am trying to avoid a major loss in depreciation.

Have made enquiries to two local dealerships, both of which seem unable to offer any reasonable discount below forecourt sticker price - which would see me losing around 7K immediately if I were to walk straight back in to trade up to the 5.0L. I respect that they are all in business to make money, but the one I found at a local non-franchise dealer was some degree cheaper - whilst still giving the dealer something to make it worthwhile.

Hence looking for private sales or owners about to p/x, as I am happy to pay well over p/x values.

I hope I have not offended anyone on here by the above statements - I know some can occasionally get upset when valuations are mentioned.

Cheers, Mark

I have no intention of selling my HST but would love to know what sort of price you are hoping to get one for, or what price you believe is the trade in price for this sort of car.

I won't be offended either, I did quite well on mine paying £40k at Xmas last year.....it was new in May 08, had 5000 miles then and has 15000 miles now.

Well, just back from picking up my new toy, after 3.5 hours doing battle with the masses on the M1. Well, what can I say - it's a dream to drive in a traffic jam! Have to say I've fallen in love with that funky cruise system. How did I ever cope without it??

Ended up finding a black/black 58 HST with 7K on the clock. Brand new tyres on 22" rims as an add on, with the Stormers thrown in aswell.

Sorry turboS - your message came a little late in my case. Can't imagine you will have trouble selling if you price it right - there are a few available, but prices seem quite steep on some of them. I would have paid up to 46K for a very low mile 58plate down to about 40 for an 08plate with quite a few miles on it.

Dazsear, that seems like a very very good price you paid for yours. Trade estimate on mine was between 40-42K, with the dealer telling me he paid 42K to buy it in. All in all, with my trade in (an old Mazda I picked up from work), it ended up costing me 41,250 plus the Mazda. They booked the Mazda at 4K, but I only paid 1.5K for it, so it's cost me 42,750 in total - not a bad deal, I thought.

The whole search for me was about trying to find one that wouldn't cost me too much if I chop it in sometime in the near future. I've got three thoughts on it - I've just come from a Gallardo, so I know in the long term it will not satisfy my right foot. Firstly, if I love riding high, I might go for the new 5.0L s/c, and trade it in. If I find it OK, I may keep it as a second car, and find a nippier toy - test drove the Nissan GT-R the other week, which I have to say was spellbinding. Finally, I may jump totally, if I find the experience too removed from my "norm", and chop it in against another really sporty number.

Signs are good for options 1 and 2, after the drive home, it has to be said. I really really enjoyed it!

Cheers, Mark

Sounds a good price for yours too, you have to remember I got mine at the height of 'doom and gloom' when prices were rock bottom.

You certainly have the best choice of colours (well I would say that since mine is the same).

As for the right foot power, you are never going to get Gallardo outputs however seriously consider having the car chipped since it makes a big difference.

Not sure where you are in terms of the M1 but I live near J28 if you ever want to try a chipped one to see the difference.

Enjoy, its addictive....I should know, done 10k since December and don't normally do anywhere near that so must be taking the long route when ever I am out and about despite having a cabrio and motorbike to use if required!!!

Morning Daz,

Thanks for the offer - may well do that - I'm actually up near Leeds, so it would be an excursion rather than a quick trip. Out of interst, which upgrade provider did you opt for, and what about the warranty?

Cheers, Mark

Hi Mark
I got the car from Nottingham Stratstones and it was already fitted by them for the previous owner.
I was very carefull to skim over that fact and pretend it was a totally standard since I have fears it would cause issues with the warranty. I agree its not the best policy but I have no idea about RRS engines or what they should do, as far as I'm concerened I got an RRS from Stratstones where I always take the car back for servicing/warranty issues and have never had issues (the camel head in the sand method).

You could always private message highbridgeflyer who is a site member, he actually sold the car to its first owner when he worked for Stratstones, I'm sure he would know more about the spec, like I said I don't really want to know if honest....lol

I do know that the car drives really nice and is damn powerful for a diesel as and when I put the right foot down, I have never driven a S/C model so can't compare but I believe the diesel has loads more torque and bottom end grunt.
