Sounds like the ignition barrel - what you put the key into. Are there any fault codes?

ISTR an issue with poor battery connections causing the same problem.

It was either poor battery connections or a poor engine earth lead , I cant remember which.

Anybody else remember that or was I dreaming?I think there was a TSB about it??

Worth a check anyway.

Hi Big Mart,LR told me that they check the battery....I hope .
Anyway the car is new, 2008.
I told them what about the key barrel ?
They said that it can't be.

I'm gonna see them ....again....on monday and I was hoping to tell them what to do !!!

Thanks

Had exactly the same problem. I know it might sound simple but.....I wasn't waiting until the light went out signalling that the coil had warmed up - it really was as simple as that. I had all sorts changed then someone on this forum said - are you sure you are waiting for the system to warm up - I wasn't.

In fact - I think it pretty much sorted itself once I started waiting. When you get in to the car, put the key in and turn it and then do stuff like put seatbelt on, get a sweet, choose a cd and it'll start like a dream!

Dear Jonathan, unfortunally that is not the problem.Even when the car is warm, after I wait for the system check etc...etc ,I have to turn the key 3/4 or 5 times before it starts.
The problem is not the engine but the starter motor or the key barrel or......I don't know !!!

Thanks anyway.

I just spoke to someone who had a similar problem - turned out it was the key itself.

Any luck with yours?

OK - so the thing to do is obviously change to your spare key and see if you get the same issue with that one Very Happy

Hello,
I am having very similar starter motor problems to those that you had with your car last year. Did you ever manage to get it fixed & if so, what cured the problem?
