Nope sounds fine, very un-diesel like. as for the SC owners, well for a few seconds of a nice symphony, its quickly followed by 10 minutes of Petrol Pump grunge rock Whistle Wink Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Nope. It sounds good - a kind of wooshie-ness (although that's not a proper word). I've been mad for flipping years, absolutely years, over the edge for yonks.

Sound is quite important. You are asking a very good question in this thread.

I had a 2.7 litre Merc C Class for a while (old shape) and it sounded like a bakers van. Terrible souding diesel clatter. Good car though.

I test drove a Merc C Class (new shape) 320 CDi (3 litre diesel). Wonderful, wonderful car. 40 mpg and less than 7 secs 0-60. However, when I floored it, it made a sound of the kind you would expect to hear if you stood on a hippo's "gentleman's vegetables". Very off-putting - but a wonderful car. That Merc 3.0 litre engine is a gem and is available in lots of their cars.

The TDV6 however, sounds just right. It's all induction roar, which turns heads when you are leaving a car park.

Buy one .... oh, and always leave it in Sport mode. No increase in fuel consumption in my experience (very strange I know) and more oomph. I've been mad for flipping years, absolutely years, over the edge for yonks.

As they have your order they might be more amenable to the idea - trouble is, a lot of dealers obviously use their demo fleet a lot at weekends and if they only have one of a particular car they tend not to like letting it go for a period of time. During the week it's easier to arrange this sort of thing, in my experience....
