Two useful mods.
1/ How to make the yellow side strip flash with the indicators.
2/ Change from Left to right dip without removing the headlamp unit.

Flashing side strip.




If its yellow and looks like an indicator then it should flash. So pre MOT checks showed RH main beam bulb (HID) failing so out comes the headlight. Easy pull two clips and out it comes. Removing the cover for access to the indicator bulb shows JLR have done all the work for you .. There is a lamp holder in the yellow strip ! I guess in some markets for a side marker. Its exactly 10mm dia so in goes the 10w corn bulb in the photo below.




Just pushes in and as its dry in there scotchlock to the brown and yellow .Job done.



2/ L or R dip without removal of Headlamp.

Many of you dont know that behind the main beam access cover is a lever to change from L to R dip.
Unfortunately you have to take out the unit to move it. Bit of a pain.
So a small hole in the top of the unit and a length of copper coated welding wire to move the lever and the job is done.






Bend the end of the wire back over itself in a tight U and push it over the lever . Blob of silicone to ensure it dont come off and give flexibility.






...Lift UP for UK DOWN for EU. EPLS...Blob of silicone to stop water ingress or use a grommet.
Bent over to 45 deg to prevent accidental actuation.
Just waiting for those Gendarmes to stop me for no beam deflection stickers...

Yeah I put bulbs into the orange side markers and connected it to the side lights. (US spec)

Useful if coming out of drives/gates so ppl can see you.

I think some D2 facelift cars even had this in the UK


Nice beam mod if you do alot of driving in europe

If you do do the dip mod then start with the RH lamp as its simpler and as per my diagram.
The LH one needs the hole for the wire about 2 in furthur back and bent to come out under the bodywork metal. More of a push pull in a curve . Otherwise no problem Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.
