Suspension Lowering

We are now working on a suspension mod to lower the air suspension at speeds over 50 mph.

It will lower the suspension by approximately 75mm and is carried out by the OBD. Chips with everything

I noticed Arden are offering something similar. Separate box to allow one to select between an off-road and on-road program. On-road lowers it by 23mm and off-road lifts it by 26mm at a cost of 2300 euros.
I thought it did this already? TDV6 - gone

Josh,

The RR S only has 3 options; off road, on road and access height but we will be able to tailor the on-road suspension height to lower at a user defined speed and by a user defined amount.

Our system will be a speed sensitive lowering with no additional 'add on' boxes and it certainly won't cost anywhere near 2300 euros!!!

Do Arden ride a horse, wear a mask and carry a gun? Wink Chips with everything

Access Height is only 50mm less than On-road height Confused

I don't know if Arden can ride a horse, but I can and do. Laughing And no I'm not connected to Arden either.

Have you got a time scale for this? I presume you are modifying the feature that already exists at 100 mph ish to a more normal speed level for UK roads. Which I think is a very good idea. TDV6 - gone

Yes, 75mm lower would be less than Access Mode. Shocked I don't think that would be safe to drive on.

Thanks for the info Grommet.

TC, 20 mm seems a more reasonable figure to drop by. Which would be in keeping with LR's spec but at a lower speed.

As i haven't got my wagon yet I will have to listen to the others feedback on this one. TDV6 - gone

its easy enough to drop it by 150mm but that would be twice as stupid as 75mm. Little benefit to touching it unless you are going to make further mods, spent days road testing suspension heights. These autologic boxes can get the uninitiated into trouble - I'd stick with the chipping TC.

can you fill us in more on your findings ie why a lower centre of gravity etc is of no benifit why is 75mm stupid etc some of us may like to know or is it just personal choice it could be an interesting thread thanks graham

I assume rrmad is questioning why anyone would rethink Land Rover's engineering, especially if it's significantly different. I would, too. They don't design vehicles in a vacuum -- serious "real world" testing of the vehicle's handling and stability is performed. (Far more than any weekend "engineer" would do...)

I dont understand why the car lowers at 100. What happens at 100 that the car needs to be lower? How many times are you really cruising at 100 for long periods of time.
