4x4 Information Screen

When I enter sand mode etc, a couple of unlocked padlocks appear on the transmission graphic.
- Is this an automatic lockable differential?

Is that standard?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Paul

Was on LR Experince day last week and this was explained, you are correct they are automatic they will turn red when locked all very clever. I think you must have the optional rear diff lock as had our test vehicle, with out this the vehicle relies on traction control to help if needed allowing 3 wheels to lock if required. Have you been on an Experince day? its a must! Thumbs Up MY10 3.0 TDV6 HSE, Zermatt Silver, 20" Diamond Turned Alloys, Factory Privacy Glass, Premium Leather, Contrast Stiching, Side Steps, Etc

Cool.

I always figured that I didn't have the electronic diff since the top left button on the console (above radio) is blanked out. I reckoned that was for the diff.

Now I wonder what option I missed out on. 2022 P440e AB

Those three legged creatures will take much more than LR's Radar based ACC system to catch.

The best way?

Chase them anti-clockwise around loch ness. They just fall over, roll down the hill, and drown.
Nice! Thumbs Up 2022 P440e AB

Paul, I thought all S/C's had the e-diff as standard - and it is fully automatic you cannot manually engage or disengage it. The 1st S/C I drove on the Dunkeld LRE Iwas amazed at how early it locked up in what seemed to me to be not very slippery conditions. Not sure what the blanked out switch might have been - maybe for the accessory front driving lights or something not available in the UK options/accessories list 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Unfortunately the e-diff is an extra cost option on the TDv8. I think Josh is the only person who has ever specified it as an option!
It may be standard on the HST Tdv8 though - I'm not sure 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

All RRSs have electronic center diff lock as standard equipment, therefore we all have those 2 padlock icons on our 4x4 monitor. If you don't have LRD, the center and rear padlock icons will both turn red/locked - concurrently - when the center diff locks. If you do have the extra cost electronic rear lockers, the two differentials will open and lock independently of each other, therefore the icons on the monitor will reflect this. So, while offroading your center icon may turn red while the rear one stays green, or the other way around. Both center and rear diff are controlled via electronic modules, so you cannot manually engage or disengage either. Short of sliding under the car to check if there is wiring sticking out of the rear diff housing, the behavior of those padlock icons is the easiest way to tell if you have LRD or not. Wink

Now, that should have been on the ... things you didn't know about your RRS thread.
