RRS hands down. Don't think you're going to get too many takers for the Q7 on a RRS forum anyhow. 2008 RRS Supercharged

J.M - thanks for taking a sounding here. I think that if you bought a Q7 you would have the devil to pay. Simply clear the decks, batten down the hatches and stop being a waister. Bite the bullet man, pin your colours to the mast and come on board the world of RRS ownership. These keep an even keel, can navigate stormy waters and still reach any port in a storm. You won't have to wait in the offing, just choose your berth. Go on, push the boat out, these are copper bottomed, so toe the line and all will be ship shape and Bristol fashion. You'll be on the crest of a wave, and look good coming along side anyone and take the wind out of other's sails.

Don't even consider going by the board and hooking up with a Q7 - what a set back that would be. They are no great shakes, start 3 sheets to the wind, then take in water and go belly up. They flounder in a force 4, can't change tack well and get stranded on a small reef. Steer a wide berth of these wretched barges, or you will founder in anything other than plain sailing. Dont fanny about and be press ganged into spending your life in the doldrums or give money for old rope. You will have to flog it to death, overhaul it regularly and want to cut it adrift, but its value will have sunk like a stone all the way down to Davy Jones' locker - how under the weather would you be then. That would be scraping the bottom of the barrel and joining the flotsam and jetsam of the motoring world, a real motley crew they are. Once the tide turns you will be beached, marooned, stranded - with all hands to the pumps with a load of old bilge and a wreck on your hands. Very soon you would be at the end of your tether and feel over a barrel. The very idea shivers my timbers.

Go over board and buy a RRS, you will find it riveting and exceedingly POSH. We will show you the ropes and very soon you will be home and dry. running free, with the sun over the yard arm and feeling top notch. If you really want to try a different tack, take bearings on a D3, but get hitched to a RRS and you won't look back. From stem to stern they are the main stay of top rated motoring. Break into your slush fund, break new ground, sign up with this crew and we will all welcome you on board.

Thumbs Up

The RRS obviously. If you're towing things the RRS will beat the Q7 hands down, its sister car the D3 is constantly voted the caravan towing car of the year so the characteristics are passed on to the RRS. If however you need loads of boot space the RRS might disappoint. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

So me hearties, which of you land lubbers voted for the Q7 ? Or has the cat got your tongue ?

I say we make him scrub the decks, then let the cat out of the bag, then keel haul the blighter, then string him up by the yard arm, before making him walk the plank to a watery grave ..... Razz RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

Amazing Smarticus - now I wonder why the guys in Monaco who built the LR Yacht version didn't call here for a few choice phrases...that was simply a fantastic pitch!

I think the only thing the Q7 has as part of its seagoing pedigree is that it resembles a white whale - you could name it Moby Dick! PJPR
