Switzerland 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

So where do I get one of these timers installed? Is there a LR part number I can ask the stealer to install, or is this something I have to do myself (not really a mech head)?

Also, I think the FBH will ONLY work if the climate is on auto:

Update:

Seems LR does have a solution, at least my stealer does. He can upgrade the installed Webasto unit to be a full-blown parking heater, which also warms up the interior of the car, based on a timer. All from Webasto.

I am getting the quote tomorrow, and will let you all know.

Mmmh Confused I hope you get the answer you are hoping for. So fingers crossed etc................

But I've spoken to Webasto before about this a few times and they were trying to produce a modification to make the fbh a full parking heater over a 2 year period, but due to some electronic issues etc in the end they found it was not achievable.
From memory it's something to do with the fact that when the engine is turned off then the cars vents are closed automatically, thus stopping the heat from the fbh getting in to the interior. And they couldn't over ride it.

So keep us posted as I'm sure there will be others who would like that facility. TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

Good luck, I have the LR "Russia Kit" fitted to my D3, it consists of a Webasto 1533 timer and enables the FBH to be turned on at a preset time and warm the engine giving quicker defrost and cabin warm up once the engine is started. This is further upgraded to enable the FBH to be fired up by phone. The car electronics must be "asleep", if they are awake then the car will override the Webasto timer and shut down the heater.

This kit is supplied to LR by Webasto and although several have claimed to speak to peeps at Webasto that in turn claim to be able to upgrade it to a "Full Parking Heater" (by which I mean it will also run the car ventilation to warm the interior without the engine running), I have yet to see/hear of a specific Webasto install that does this. The issues are with the A/C vents, the cabin fan motor is also not a straight 12V type. I understand that Webasto got a solution running but could not stop the A/C logging errors etc so would not move it to sale.

LR have subsequently stopped sale of the LR kit it seems, in any country that, in their view, doesn't require it. Search Disco3.co.uk and there are many threads on the subject.

The standard purpose of the FBH is to supplement the engine heat to bring the engine up to temp quicker in cold conditions and to maintain coolant temp and hence heater output into the cabin if the engine cannot (left idling, my D2 temp would drop as the engine is too thermally efficient and under low load cannot maintain the correct engine temp for good heater output, the TDV6 and TDV8, in common with lots of modern diesels, are the same.). The Russia Kit was developed to overcome a particular cold start issue in Russian type winter conditions, hence the name. Cheers

Simon

As some of you have guessed the option from my stealer here in Liechtenstein is not cheap, but then again, not crazily expensive either.

They can "upgrade" the existing Webasto system to a full-blown cabin/motor heater. Unfortunately it cannot be paired with the remote control (phone or otherwise), but only the timer. The price installed (one workday) is CHF1'500/GBP920 (weak pound, strong swiss franc). OK this is not cheap, but I am not surprised, especially as I understand it is a days work.

I'll probably go ahead.
