United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Santorini Black
Rough start

In this cold weather the car sounds like a tractor when it is first started and this morning I pulled away and the car wouldnt go above 10mph. It was like a safety sensor was cutting in saying "I am not ready to drive yet".

Is this normal Question

Sounds to me like for whatever reason the car thinks its in limp-home mode. I take it the car did eventually drive as normal?

Does your car have a FBH fitted? The FBH is fitted just behind the nearside front headlight. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Yep, I pulled over - turned it off and waiting a while then turned it back on and it drove as normal.

Is the FBH a mini exhaust type thing as this was making a noise when i checked under the bonnet?

Quite possibly... dependent on how long after you originally started it was. The FBH turns itself off again once the engine reaches about 75deg I think.

Just called the dealer - they said to call LR assist as they are booked up until next Thursday!!!

LR assist sound awesome, spoke to a lady that seems to know her stuff - they are coming out this AM

She seemed to think its a fuel issue?

What does the FBH do V.A? (I am not good with engines!)

The FBH or fuel burning heater is a device which effectively preheats the water system to allow the car and the cabin to warm up more quickly. Diesels usually take an age to warm up and of course, when the weather is cold, this problem is accentuated. It does have a separate fuel line to the tank, so it could be that this is where the fault lies. But if LRA are due out, they will no doubt sort you out Thumbs Up

Ok, LRA just left, its the EGR and I have 4 fault codes.

Just called the stealer, this part is on "at least" 10 day delivery and they have a number of cars sat waiting for this part to come in! They said the cold weather was making them fail... We have had cold weather but "fail" at -10oc!

I am beginning to wonder why I bought a LR and the "issues" I read all over this forum are coming to light, I have owned BMW's for years and years and I may of been lucky but never had problems like this.

This has already had the common "knocking noise" sorted out and other niggles that I honestly dont think I would of got had I bought the new X5. I really think the build quality is not in the same league. This really does upset me as I love the styling and this was the deciding factor in buying the car but I am more than Censored off with these ongoing issues. To not have stock is beyond belief.

I may of just opened a can of worms with the X5 statement but I have friends with X5's are the 3.0d engine is awesome even though it looks like an ugly duckling against the RRS Thumbs Up

The very nature of forums is that they attract people with problems with their cars. I'm sure you will find problems with the X5 if you visited a dedicated forum for them. Best of luck. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
