front cig lighter socket isn't work (confirmed device/connection are okay by using boot socket) - is there something simple I can do before taking it to a dealer?

could be a number of things so best get the dealer to fix. Remember the socket only works when ignition is on. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I had the same problem 2 weeks ago, but after took it at the dealer to fix it i realise that the socket now works when the ignition is off, the engine off, even when the car is completeley locked... Is that right? Before taking it to the dealer, it wasnt like that as i remember always had the phone charger connected to that socket... Can anyone advise me what to do... RRS TDV8 HSE Java Black

Uh, get a bigger battery and count your blessings? Laughing Seriously, I would love the dealer to screw up my cigarette lighter like that! Many times I've wished that at least one 12v socket in the car were unswitched.

ANd what umbertob is saying there is no it isn't right - nothing has power with the keys out - only the radio unit and then only for 20 or 30 mins or so before self terminating.

As I now understand the front cig lighter is on a different circuit to the rear and boot sockets.

Have just got back from the Aussie RRsport weekend meet, and one of the guys who is not a member on here has solved this - he has his Waeco fridge powered 24/7 in the boot of his TDV6 from the factory power socket in the boot.

I have the instructions and will try and get it done on my asap and post some details and photos up as soon as I get chance.....

on 2007 tdv6 centre and rear power sockets are on a seperate relay and fuse to the front cigar lighter outlet. Rear and centre outlets can be set up to be non switched from ignition by removing relay r203 from behind glove box and putting a wire bridge across the power terminals. 2.7 RRS TDV6, java black, Cruise, Sunroof, tow pack, Tasmod Sills, brembos, 20 inch rims, tinted windows, premium ice, adaptive bi xenons.

This is the offending relay that needs to be 'replaced' per Tiny's instructions above

I now have permanently working power sockets in the rear and the boot, regardless of ignition position! Thumbs Up

A picture of the wire bridge would be very helpful.

Have made a new post regarding this in 'Tips & Tricks' 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
