Reliability

As I have understood by reading the various topic of this forum, we all love this vehicle, whatsoever as any car really, it s got its share of faults.I d just like to ask if you think that these faults are more or less than the ones appearing in other SUVs, e.g BMW,Cayenne,Mercedes, etc. (Dont know if anyone in here either has an other SUV, and can share experiences, or if anyone's been at a similar forum for other brand vehicles) Exclamation RRS S/C,Bonatti Grey,Ebony Interior,Lined Oak Finish, Rear Lock Dif, DVD,Sunroof,ACC

I've been a regular vistor to the VW Touareg forum (www.mytouareg.co.uk) and they have had their fair share of problems and niggles.
Excessive tyre wear, replacement transfer boxes, electrical problems etc.
I think its just par for the course with a new model.
So far, no problems with the RRS.

xc90 niggles and forum - the reason why i'm buying a rrs

I've had an xc90 for the past 2 years and have nad no end of niggles :-
Brake squealing / handbrake failure - 3 visits to fix
drive shaft coupling fault
power steering pump failure
interior trim breaking
interior trim of very low quality
The front seats are extremely uncomfortable
leather seats turning out to be part vinyl and wearing thin
child seat not locking upright -2 visits to fix
front screen rake reflects the dashboard obscurring drivers view
main dealer breaking a rear light and not owning up
main dealer screwing up window refit - 3 visits to fix
main dealers providing very poor service and treating you as if you own a 5 grand car, i've used 3 dealerships- they are as bad as eachother

the xc90 forum can be found :
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zeroforum?id=27

As a consequence I'm moving to RRS since I had a P38 RR before , sure I'm losing 2 seats and 10 litres of boot capacity but at least i know the car will still look great after 4yrs.. and the dealership gives you respect. P400e HSE Portofino Blue and Ivory Seats.. it's like a yacht!!
Lexus traded in ..a total piece of crap
Boldly now acquired - a Lexus RX 450hL
BoldlyGone...Sep 15 MY16 RRS SDV6, HSE, Barolo Black, Espresso/Almond interior.. Best car ever & Drop dead gorgeous... sadly with fuel dilution headaches that became intolerable
Arrived 2014. Oct - Lemoned March 2015- RRS SDV6 HSE
Boldly Gone = Sold for 14k via Pistonheads - 2006 TDV6 SE Buck Blue/Almond int

I got my car on 1st October - now done just under 4000 miles and I have not had a single fault or problem.

The car was subject to the recall regarding the "P" brake in the transmission but I had had no problem with it.

The build quality seems to be really good - no rattles or squeaks and everything works perfectly.

I've now done 7000 miles since October in mine, only issue was the alignment needing re-doing after the first week as the car was drifting to the left. Since that I have had a rear number plate light replaced as it fell out, but nothing else really to speak of. L319 D4 HSE

Depends who you talk to - some folks, like fellow member MDP, have had several issues. Others, like myself have had thousands of trouble-free miles. As with all new models, there are little faults and niggles here and there, but it's certainly not what you'd call a lemon (or Alfa Romeo, depending on which language you speak) Wink

Your right shmoogle,

But most of them can now be attributed to the Duff Battery that I had Sad

Other issues were - again, the rear numberplate illumination lamp fell out ( broken retaining clip ). Replacement gas struts for the rear hatch.

But the rest is BAD LUCK .......... puncture/replacement tyre (marked alloy after refit tyre ) , stealth mode didnt work ( caught speeding ) and some sod broke/cracked the passenger wing mirror housing ( now replaced and had the factory adgustment fix )

It is now back to showroom condition and all is working well ( touch wood )

I am now ...........

I had a ML270CDI, only kept it for 6 months as the bloody thing fell apart around me! in 6 months i had a new power steering pump, new shockers all round, new suspension bushes all round, new door lock, new window switch gear, new fuel filler cap mechanism, and a new seat motor...

The car was one year old, so all of these things were done on warranty but our Merc garage does not provide insurance for loan cars and wanted to see a fully comp covernote before they loaned a car! never had that before!

Anyway after this experience coupled with the fact i was loosing £500 - £600 a month on residuals caused me to get out of it as quick as possible taking a loss of £2000..

I went to visit the sales man about the new ML range and he told me that "the previous merc range was rubbish but they have sorted thier build issues now" but that comment in itself did not fill me with confidence!

Our RRS is nine months old now and done about 14,000 miles I think. So far, nothing major has gone wrong. It's been in for some minor things to be fixed, like a door rattle, rear brakes squealing, boot gas struts too weak etc. All fixed under warranty, but nothing so far as caused us to break down or call out LR Assist. I am expecting a few niggles, as it is a new car design and ours is an early one, but so far I am very impressed with the reliability.

We had an 4 year old Merc ML270CDI before, and this was reliable and no problems with it apart from normal wear and tear stuff. Matt

RRS ownership for 1 yr, then D3 for 2 yrs. Then cut back to old bangers and working my way back up through two Peugeots in 6 months. Now got Saab 9-5 2.3t and enjoying the performance!

i have friends over here that are mechanics for VW and the inside joke is that when a Tourage comes in for warranty work...they often ask the service advisor "so what color Tourage would they like to have next?" As it appears that VW has had to buy back quite a few of these.

I'll be picking up my RRS this weekend (18.02.06) and I'm just excited at the prospect of driving these HOT vehicles...i dont think i'd keep it past the warranty period though LOL www.vip-culture.com | 06 RRS HSE | 06 Odyssey Touring

I have close to 5,000 miles and only one problem to report. The left monitor has never worked since I bought it. It hasn't been a big priority but finally took her in last week and turns out, they have to remove the seats and install new wiring. They tell me it's a one to two week job which really scares me. I thought it would be a one day repair. Isn't Land Rover supposed to perform a full systems check before shipping these things?

Anyway, other that I love the heck out this thing. AC
