Brake comparison

My wife just got a RRS, so now we're a 2 RRS family! Mine's SC with the Brembo's, hers the normal brakes.

I've had the chance to do some very ... er... spirited braking with both, and yes, the Brembo's have a more agressive bite, if that's how I can describe it, but there's NOTHING wrong with the standard brakes. Just on Sunday I went from 50 - 0 at a light that just looked like I wasn't going to make the yellow in a very short distance (can't give a reliable estimate, sorry) but it was a very agressive stop, and it was smoooooth, confident, etc. Good bite, good feel, never, ever a sense that I couldn't stop by the white line.

I've done this countless times (don't worry, no one behind me) with the Brembo's, and I'd say that I'm more likely to be driving more "enthusiastically" in my SC, so it's got the brakes to match, but I wouldn't think they are absolutely necessary for performance, depending on how you drive!

Oh, and they look cool too.

lol...actually, no. But my wife was driving an Escalade, and I had my RRS.

Once I'd convinced her to get rid of the great lumbering beast, it was only a matter of trying to keep her hands off of my RRS...best way to do that was get her one.

We're pretty up to our eyeballs in LRs...we also have an LR3 at our vacation home.

Having had older LRs (various RRs and a disco), I can assure you we have been pleasantly surprised now that we're in the RRS/LR3 era of LR quality--much better.

I might have to buy oil futures though....

I'll post pictures in a few days. 2006 RRS SC

Don't twist the knife in the wound of our European friends... Every time I feel blue because I just filled up my Sport at $60-something (we are again close to $3/gallon for premium here in California, after an awfully brief dip under $2.50), I think about the prices they are paying and suddenly life's good again.

I think he is doing one "heck of a job". During the last round of increases at the pump he suggested we "should be prurient (prudent) in refueling your cars" and we should "only buy fuel when necessary..." Sound advice indeed from the man, I have since stopped refueling just for kicks and am doing my part to decrease our dependence on "fern" (foreign) oil.

Probably not in the back due to expense. having said that, has anyone here managed to find a caliper cover for the rear braks so that they match the fronts. Or maybe even had them painted at least?

Smile Hmmm, in my case, I paid 125.000 Euros and believe me 1 or 2K more wouldnt make much of a difference, but if that were the case they could probably have made a better quality interior with 1K more, put a rear view camera, perhaps an even stronger engine...The list is endless just as in any car no matter how much it costs Smile RRS S/C,Bonatti Grey,Ebony Interior,Lined Oak Finish, Rear Lock Dif, DVD,Sunroof,ACC
