Ireland 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Zambezi Silver
Bluetooth

Hi to all. New owner who has just taken delivery. I am looking for some advice on why a bluetooth phone will only display numbers and not names from phonebook. I know from messages that this seems to be the case but am wondering if Land Rover will plan to upgrade software to allow this, as a relatively cheap system like 'Parrot' will pick up names that are stored in your phone. A little bit annoying when you would like to see who is calling.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi gables! You only get phone book synch when you use the optional cradle.

Bluetooth

Hi shmoogle,
Thanks for quick reply. I realised only when I picked up delivery that the Pti option will only pick up names when phone is in the cradle. My only fault with my RRS is that this is so silly as my new Motorola L6 does not have a car cradle connection only bluetooth and in my previous auto it worked perfectly with the 'Parrot'system. Is there any way to ask Land Rover if they will plan to upgrade to allow names to be displayed through the bluetooth system as this is quite common on other makes.

Maybe there will be in a future release, but it's a big maybe so don't hold your breath Wink Best bet would be to ask if there are any plans to release a cradle for your phone (again, don't hold your breath - there are folks who have been promised a cradle for the 6230i for the past 6 months and still there isn't one). Best bet is to get another phone and keep that one in the car - if you are on Vodafone, they do a neat dual-SIM tarriff which means both phones will have the same number. This issue has been discussed here before - use search for the opinions of others Smile

I will ask LR cust serv if this is possible ie. will they be able to come up with a software download that will be done at the dealership. I cant see any reason why this could not be accomplished. ( fingers crossed ) Very Happy

Update

Just spoke to LR again - NO IDEA - all details re new cradles & any software updates etc will hopefully be avilable in the next 2 weeks - but may drag on - they are aware of all the issues & are actively trying to sort all them - with a view to a final launch of many upgrades/solutions.

The current Nokia/LR PTI system will not gain any functional improvements over Bluetooth. This is how it was designed. It's been like this since it's introduction on '05 Range Rover and Disco 3.

Yes, other car phone products can sync your phonebook from some phones over Bluetooth (so you can see the name)... the problem is, the Nokia/LR system doesn't really have a local phone book. It uses your phone's directory directly, and that's only via cradle. Sorry.

Solution? I have my phone on a dash mount where I can see the external screen. Done.

While everyone is discussing Bluetooth, i figured that i would make my 1st post (just got the car last wednesday).

Is it possible to pick up your phone and continue a conversation privately after initiating the call through the car? I don't see anything in the manual about this, any help would be appreciated.

Yes, you do this from your phone. From my Motorola, I select "use handset" and I can take the phone out of the car while continuing the conversation.

I don't think there is a feature like this on Sony Ericsson phones. I wish there was!

rweintra, with the k750 all you have to do is press options then transfer to phone. I am pretty sure you have a t610 and I havn't used that in a while so I am not positive but it should be the same proccess

it depends on the phone, with my phone it transfers the sound automaticly to the car so i can keep the conversation going but that might not work with the motorolas
