United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey
Tonights Top Gear

Hi

Did anyone see Top Gear tonight?

Im referring to the scary pic of vast numbers of unsold new Rangies lined up on an airfield or similar

There were absolutely loads of them
Dont get me wrong I have seen cars lined up at factories, ports and distribution yards but the numbers here were stunning

I know that the market is currently unkind to 4x4's but the traders and sponsors here still seem to suggest that things are moving at least

Does anyone else have any info?

Cheers

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Arctic Frost

I haven't watched it yet. But it sounds like someone has taken a picture of Land Rovers main storage yard at Gaydon.

All vehicles get stored there before being despatched around the world. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

I heard last week from a few sources that LR have fields full of RRS/Disco's over in Europe (can't remember which country - Netherlands?). Apparently LR are offering quite a few nice incentives for dealers to take some (apparently)

I've worked for Land Rover for 10 years and have been to Gaydon many many times to collect vehicles, and over that 10 years it's always had that many car parket up ready for distribution. As TB says, Gaydon is where they all go (except FL2) before they are sent to the relevent market.

I wouldn't say that the picture illustrates the current climate.

It sounds like the same thing we have here with Mercedes. It's really a big, big, big car park where every car lands until it is shipped and of course it is always full of thousands and thousands of cars no matter how much they sell at the moment. Sometimes people also use a photo of that car park to illustrate that Mercedes has selling problems. Rolling Eyes
Well, I can remember a time when this car park was sometimes almost empty since they had so much cars on order they were not able to produce enough. But the last time I saw that is about 20 years ago... Whistle Wink

I may be wrong, but I always thought that Land Rover only make vehicles which have been ordered from the dealers, if that is the case all those Range Rovers were ordered Question

and I bet a large number of them are waiting for some cargo ship to dock at Southampton to ship them worldwide. It's not as if ships are leaving every day. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Yeah Tim only gets home a couple of times a year Whistle

I know that when I got my MG it stood almost complete in a car park like that for a few days while they awaited parts to complete the build then it was shipped to me Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

And its not like Clarkson likes to slag off Land Rover or Range Rover, he loves them and I can't remember him saying a word against them.

Indeed they use Full Fat Range Rovers as camera chase cars in all the road filming they do. Flip the top tailgate open and its perfect. L319 D4 HSE
