Front Grill removal

Can anyone tell me how to remove the front grill. I have released the four retaining clips on the top which then pops free about an inch, but am wondering what 'holds' the bottom or sides of the grill in place. I didn't want to exert too much pressure as I didn't want to break the plastic.
No I am not doing the reverse of many others and changing my S/C grill for a non-S/C grill. LOL
In fact I'm looking to find the best place to mount two LE-30 transceivers from Lidatek to jam lidar.
(I attempted a search, but that brought up 35 pages!)

Once you have released the top clips, you should be able to lift it straight out - there are no additional clips or other fasteners in place. - Robert

Bish, would have thought there was ample space to mount those under the number plate area or in the void near the ACC box? L319 D4 HSE

We don't have to have a front license plate here so Police will aim at the headlights, hence I would like to mount the transceivers as close to the lights as possible.

I just wonder if the grille will obscure the device though, preventing it from working effectively all the time?

How big is the device and what does it look like? Got any web links you can post? L319 D4 HSE

The individual transceivers are very small, about 3cms by 5cms and will fit perfectly between two of the grill 'slats'. They will be well hidden from Percy Plod, but will still have non-restricted access to the 'laser beam'.

Does it lift outwards, (towards the front of the vehicle), or upwards?

I just took mine out, I released the clips on top then pulled from the left side to release and then the right. It comes right out, you need to use some force but not much

When I took mine out it did just need a bit of a pull to release it away from the bottom. Not as much confidence required as for the side vents Wink

Bish: Did you look at the Blinder as well as the Lidatek? Are two tranceivers really necessary or are you being overly cautious? What about radar? Any tips on good detectors? I've been stopped 5 times since August (all tickets ended up being warnings - seems the smokies around here are looking for out of state speeders but I can't expect that attitude to last forever) and would like some protection. The RRS is so smooth it's really hard to tell you're speeding without keeping your eyes on the spedo all the time. Anyway, just thought I'd save myself a bit of research time if you'd be kind enough to share. TIA tlw

There is no better radar detector on the market than the Valentine V1. I've used many brands over the years, and wouldn't waste my money on anything else. It is not affected by the heating elements. Mount it up high on the windscreen with it hardwired in and have your installer run the power cable up the side of the windscreen and header to the detector itself.

As for lidar:
The Blinder system, (made in Europe), is highly regarded and they have a system with four transceivers, 2 front, 2 rear. Unfortunately there is just nowhere to freely mount a transceiver on the rear of the RRS where it is capable of doing its job well*.
Lidatek: they make a great system that also has proved to be highly capable. The transceivers are very small and hence easy to mount, and 'hide' from prying eyes, (read police). Once again the LE-30 system, (which is modular and of excellent quality), has a position for a rear mounted transceiver, but even with the small 'footprint' of the LE-30 transceiver, there is still no way to adequately mount one on the rear of the car*.
Bel and Escort systems: these companies products do not work as well as the Blinder and Lidatek products but they do have rear transceivers built in to a module that easily attaches to your rear license plate. This is a positive for sure, but these systems are designed to integrate into their respective radar detectors, which I would never use.

* Police laser enforcement is far more common to be aimed at the front of an approaching vehicle, so many would say that rear detection is not really necessary. However, as more and more of these damn 'guns' come onto the market, police may well start using rear detection more frequently in the future. You have to decide what is best for you. If either Blinder or Lidatek, (my personal favourite), would release a rear transceiver that mounted on the rear license plate it would be a 'no-brainer'.
