Delivery of new car due Mar 06, is there a choice of tyre for the delivered car or is it pot luck? If there is a choice what do you folks recommend?

Having had an XC90 with continental prem contacts - which were great for summer driving, yet useless for winter or light off road, I had to change to pirelli a/t to get any degree of all-year/condition acceptability , would prefer not to go through that again. P400e HSE Portofino Blue and Ivory Seats.. it's like a yacht!!

As far as I am aware it's random. Mine is a TDv6 with 19" wheels and the tyres are Goodyear Wrangler F1 255/50 R19, I noticed another TDv6 in the car park of the dealer same spec as mine and it had Continental Cross something or other .

I had a look around for the various replacement options and for the 19" wheels there are the Goodyear, Continentals and also Pirelli although I think Land Rover are only supplying the first two brands on new cars.

This is just my opinion/observation I seem to remember reading about tyres a while ago in another thread.

Its always been pot luck, I've seen on various models all the previous plus michelin and bridgestone. It is almost like what deal can we get this week at the discount store!

Personally I am a fan of the Goodyear Wrangler. Obviously no good when you are really deep in the pooh, but better than the other pirelli and michelin alternatives. I told the dealer what tyres I wanted and he promised that if the vehicle turned up with something different on he would swap them out with another vehicle that he already had that had the Goodyears on.

just get some old slick racers and let the electronics sort it all out for you dont waste good money on tyres sorry i had to

What would be the best choice (or luck for that matter in case of factory tyres) for the S/C? RRS S/C,Bonatti Grey,Ebony Interior,Lined Oak Finish, Rear Lock Dif, DVD,Sunroof,ACC

My RRS S/C came with the Continental Sport Contact 275/40R20 which is a summer tire only. I live where snow is common in the winter and these tires are a disaster in snow. Switched to Hankook Ventus ST RH06 in the same size and it made a huge difference. It is an all season tire that frankly rides better, handles just as well as the Continental and works in the snow. The best part is the treadwear rating is 420 vs the Continental's 280.

I have the continental sport contacts too on my Supercharged. They seem fine in the winter to me and I've tested them off road too.
