Newbie: What are all the beeping alerts???

Hi everyone, we've had our used RRS for 2 weeks now and love it. I've read thru the owners manual and may have missed something but as we drive, we sometimes hear a beep and don't know what it is. Sometimes we see a readout on the display to let us know what the alert is, like temp alert etc, but sometimes we hear an beep and have no idea what the alert is for. I assumed one time it was the nav alerting me of a direction change, but sometimes when I have nav off, I still get the odd beep alert here and there. Any feedback would be great, I did turn off speed alert on the trip computer also and I have a North American spec RRS.

Thanks in advance!

The only beep you are likely to get when driving without a visual alert is the temp warning - the temp falls to 4 degrees or below. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

How can I tell if it's due for service? There is not a check engine light on and nothing is showing in the computer display.

I've seen the visual display, any non-visual display beeps? I've seen it beep once when my trip computer hit 500 on the dot, maybe coincidence? Not too sure.

A service request would NOT beep at you.

It will either be a speed over alert, seat belt alert if something is on the seat and not a human Shocked or it could be an error of sorts, but that would show in the green display near the VDO.

If the car needs a service - it shows up when you start the engine just under the speedo in digital format Thumbs Up L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

FP, what year and model is your car?

Earlier models had the pesky front sensors beep problem - does the beep come on when you are in close proximity of another car or pedestrian? Malaysia Boleh!

As VA says, When the temp hits 39 degrees F, you will hear a beep, but you'll also see a snowflake appear on the dash. PJPR

IIRC you'll get an 'i' on the message centre with the bong - toggle through to the end of the options and it'll tell you for most things (ie overspeed) cannot recall if it does for temp alerts?

Most bongs have a visual associated with them.... both overspeed and temp do, I'm sure.

As Bobby says, could be the oversensitive PDC sensors, if you have the audacity to be within 200m of another vehicle Whistle

How about when you are moving slowly forward in one lane <10 mph and another vehicle in the second (adjacent) lane overtakes you at a slightly higher speed, sometimes, depending how close they are (and how big they are i.e. a lorry) you can get a beep from the front parking sensors.

I think mine does this Question

Thumbs Up

Back again!!!

Okay, back again. It happened again but this one was quite strange. I was on the highway for about a couple hours and finally got to my destination and approached a red light. As I almost come to a stop I hear a couple beeps(two somewhat long beeps). I was quite surprised since I have not heard anything since my last post. It was coming from the computer and not from the radio(and was not the front/backup sensors either). I looked at my dash and no visual alerts popped up(not temp gauge). I was quite surprised and very curious. The 2 beeps went away and had not heard it for most of the trip. On our way home there were no beeping noises until we had pulled up to our driveway. As I was slowing down I had pushed the access mode button and as I made a complete stop, the vehicle had a long beep noise(possibly around 5-8 seconds, enough for my wife and I to look at each other and go Censored WTF Censored ? Can anyone relate to my experience??? Can the dealer pull up these codes since I am sure it would be a hard time for them to try and repeat what I have experienced.

Very, very curious!!!
