WARNING!!! Windscreen replacement

I have recently been having a problem with water in the footwell on the passenger side of the RRS. The known TSB's didn't fix the problem but Guava in Guildford sorted the problem! Thumbs Up

About 1 year ago I had a windscreen replaced and when the fitted took out the old screen they damaged the pollen filter box under the windscreen. This lead to the leak that I have been experiencing. In process of getting the old screen out the fitter also damaged the bodywork. When everything is fitted back it is almost impossible to see if any damage has been caused.

If you need to get the windscreen replaced make sure the fitter is aware that you know what damage can be caused if the replacement isn't done carefully. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

e replacement

Hmmm...about two weeks too late! Despite letting them know about replacement clips (as per VA's previous advice) on the trim they broke most of them and used super glue to fix rather than spend a few dollars to replace. They have now replaced them but it leaves little confidence as to what other damage has occurred.

I had my screen replaced yesterday, just been out to check after reading your post, the offside A pillar front plastic trim is slightly wobbly whereas the nearside is tight, could this be caused by broken clips do you think?
Should I get the dealer to check it out? MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Chris,

They have a habit of flying off at speed (hopefully not along the side of your paintwork) if not refitted properly, therefore you should certainly get it checked. Ideally the clips should be replaced as it is difficult to remove the trim without breaking at least one.

James Thumbs Up

I had exactly the same problem when my D3 screen was replaced.

The most alarming issue though was when the plastic trim decided to fall off at 90 on the M6 making a god-awful noise and a huge bang. Thought we had been hit by something!

Definitely check fitting is done properly and that the trim is tight RRS TDV6 SE Java Black +towpack +tintent +Permagrin

IIRC, the A-pillar trim flew off MDP's S/C ages ago.

I have posted on here before about screen replacements (I had a few Sad ) on the last RRS, I had one fitted where the trim on the A pillar wasn't seated due to a broken clip - the fitter tried to mastic it down so I didn't notice Evil or Very Mad .... numpty

I had them back to replace and they fitted a new screen also just in case - the water appeared to be getting into the pillar through the trim holes and down onto the floor somehow through the body work.

I think Bobby posted a bulletin about a mod to the trim fixings to also reduce water ingress risk.

THe other thing to watch for is that they centralise the screen - if not you can see into the trim from the outside on one side and not the other - the airbag and cables become visible....
