George Orwell was right.........with parking, big brother has taken over.

I was lucky enough to have a driver with me as I was visiting St Martin’s Lane in the London’s West End......obviously no parking facilities, so I suggested as I was only going to be 15 minutes that he wait until a meter person appeared and then drove round the block. Nothing clever so far.

We drove away without spotting the enemy and didn’t think anything more of it.

4 Days later the parking ticket arrived. £60 if you pay now or £120 if you want an argument.

A photograph had been taken by a remote camera about 100 yards away which then turned into a parking ticket compliments of City of Westminster! No mistake it was my car with the driver clearly in view.

No warning signs.........nothing, just a nasty bunch of un-civil servants on the other end of a computer screen.

Doesn’t it make you feel proud?

There is absolutely no substitute for a genuine lack of preparation.


TDV8 HSE MY10 with pretty much everything including a vase of daffs on the back shelf, tropical fish collection in the centre console, hamsters in the spare tyre and finally sheep on the passenger seats.....for weight distribution, what else??
