I have been lead to believe 'Pom' is an abbrebiation of the nickname 'pommie', which comes from the acronyn P.O.M.E. This was stamped on the unforms of those shipped out here. The acronym meaning 'Prisoner of Mother England'.

Cheers guys!

First thing this morning Michael from CHPR rang my doorbell with a shiny new stornaway grey TDV8 HST.

Michael collected my TDV6 car before I went on holiday, took care of everything whilst I was away (including chasing my slack insurance company) and then delivered on my first day back from hols!

The service from these guys has been spot on, loads of contact and updates as things progressed from order to delivery, I am a very satisfied customer!

I have already the side repeaters for grey smoked units, and changed all teh badges to black ones.

The car was delivered without a TDV8 badge (although is 8.5 spec) not an issue as they are going to send me one through the post, however, I kind of like the "no badge look" and am debating whether to remove the "SPORT" lettering and have only the black Land rover oval.

just can't decide???

Thanks again guys

Just thought.................. I think we'll have to change or signage from Charles Hurst to CHPR!

James Thumbs Up

Convicts arriving in the Penal colony had uniforms with POME written on the back - "Prisoner Of Mother England" as you said.
This means that over the years, Australians, descended from the first waves of axe murderers, rapists and prostitutes who founded the country, could look down on the more recent arrivals as Pommies.
Over the years the term came to be applied to all British including those stay-at-home "Pommie Bastards" who didn't get transported to the colony.
