Nokia 6230i and PTI Any Brits had any luck yet?

To my British brothers:
Have any of you had any luck using a Nokia 6230i with the PTI cradle? I know that it can work with Bluetooth, but was hoping someone had managed to get it fully functional with the PTI cradle. I have a 6230i that I use when I'm back in the UK and just thought it would be nice as a 'back-up' phone in the RRS. The phone gets power when in the cradle, but is not 'recognized' by the car.
If anyone has heard of a firmware update enabling this phone to be fully functional I'd love to hear of it.

Drove my RRS out the UK showroom December 1st with Nokia cradle. I have UK & French 6230i. As you say it charges in the cradle, blue tooth works fine. The number calling you is displayed below the speedo, the red & green buttons work on the steering wheel. Handsfree bluetooth works. I can't dial on the RRS keypad, no transfer of address book to the car & no voice recognition. My speed-dials work but only when I press the phone keypad. I prefer to keep both phones on the dash (SE without satnav), I can only keep one on bluetooth anyway. So personally it is not a big deal as long as bluetooth is working.
I have another car with Parrot bluetooth 3 years old which works with 6230 & 6230i voice recognition; which is irritating.
Looking forward to the software upgrade, but at the end of the day I can charge my phone and it will work if I keep it in my jacket pocket.

Im going to be picking my car up from the dealer later today so will enquire again as to how much longer we have got to wait for a 6230i cradle. In September I was told by LR cust/serv it was only weeks away. So I will have a good old moan when I see them Mad

There is no problem with the cradle - the 6230 & 6230i fit the same cradle; my phone charges. Just waiting for the software upgrade.
The software seems to be very phone specific compared to Parrot; mainly because it is more deluxe eg loading all your addresses into the RRS system from the phone. Too many options that are phone specific.

You will find that each cradle is specific to the phone & does in fact have built in software. LR do not release updated software for cradles, so for the 6230i to operate fully you will have to wait until LR launch a new cradle for this phone.

I too have the 6230i and have spoken to LR personally and get mixed replies re a launch date.

I'm not sure that this is correct in that if you look at the specific part number for every Nokia cradle, it is in fact the same. So while we wait on a software update for the 6230i to be fully integrated with PTI, I do not believe a new cradle will be necessary.

Hot off the press

I have just spoken to LR direct at customer services. They have had an email back literally today stating that the launch of the long awaited 6230i cradle will be in 2 weeks time. So I will speak to them again on Monday 23/1/2006 . Do I hold my breath Confused

MDP careful you're turning blue! 2 weeks landrover time is like 8 inches in male measurements - ie a long way off! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

I phoned customer services today for the same thing and was told they had no idea when or if a cradle would become available.

I expect it all depends on who you talk to, as with most "customer service" depts. When we moved to our current house, BT told us we couldn't choose from a range of phone numbers so phoned back again, got someone different who would let us choose! Wink

why does everyone want a cradle? With the exceptoion of being able to scroll through your phone book, what else does it do over the bluetooth?

...and stops your phone from rattling around in a cupholder/storage box. It's obviously not absolutely necessary to have one, but I guess most people like the convenience of it. I certainly do.
