Something odd happened.......

I went to my car at the weekend, started it up and noticed that the clock was reset back to 00:00 and the stereo setting had all gone back to default....weird.

Plus, as I was coming up the M1 today I decided to press the access height button, and it said on the dash it had been selected, it did not sit there flashing away nor did it tell me I was going too fast to select it.

So, do you reckon the car dropped down while driving? I have no way of telling, as I was doing 70mph.

Does the EAS automatically lower when you reach a cruising speed as it does on the L322 to lower the centre of gravity and increase stability? L319 D4 HSE

Yes, the car does lower the ride height by 20mm if the vehicle speed exceeds 100 mph for longer than 5 seconds.

Looks like you were going faster than 70mph! Cool Cool Malaysia Boleh!

100mph?

Really?

How is that supposed to work when the US speed limit is 55mph and here it's 70mph?

On the L322 and P38 it drops down 20mm when the car hits 50mph, why would they double it, that just seems so silly to me.... L319 D4 HSE

All based around the fact that the RRS is much more stable at 100mph than a big RR, I suppose. In fairness to LR, it does say in the bit in the handbook about the automatic lowering "NEVER EXCEED THE SPEED LIMIT". I suppose there are some markets who have derestricted roads... Germany etc.

On the contrary Shocked , I have been bumbling about at about 70-75 for the past few days and in my opinion, the car suits that speed well, it still feels quick but its really smooth and the engine in barely ticking over!

I am getting 19mpg on my M1 runs at the moment. Wonder if I will hit the magic 20 if I fold the wing mirrors in to reduce drag... Cool L319 D4 HSE

The RRS just cruises when going fast. My friend says that when he hits 90mph the ride is fantastic and very smooooooooth - I'll have to take his word for it. Wink 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I have no problem cruising in at 70 to 80 mph. I have not have enough open road to hit and sustain 100 mph. The car will do it with no problem. 90-95 is very stable. Seems very fast. My old car was a Mercedes E430, had that up to 131 ish and can cruise at 100 with no problem. Very Happy

RRUK, be blessed that you are driving a very updated and advanced vehicle from LR. The engineers at LR must have done extensive tests to determine that the RRS, at its normal driving height, will have no problems with the centre of gravity up till speeds of 100mph.

You're right about the P38. Just as my poor old 1996 model 4.6 HSE RR. The vehicle will lower itself by about 2 inches if speeds of over 50mph are sustained for over 30 seconds!! It would mean this vehicle is half as good as your RRS (while speeding, anyway).

So friend, you have one of the (or should I say, THE) best 4x4s in the world. Open up the throttle once a while and let fly!!! Enjoy it! Malaysia Boleh!

I regularly drive the RRS at around 110-120 on motorways responding to calls. Its as stable as many of my previous cars.

Whats killing me is the mpg. My fuel allowance does not cover anywhere near the 11mpg im getting ripping around. Its much worse than my previous RS6 and im seriously thinking of moving it on. Its costing me a fortune!!
