It's not Boris's fault - it's the former Mayor who started this. I wouldn't have been surprised if this stand down was planned and the money to pay Porsche was going to fund the charity that Porsche is giving the money to. It could have cost the taxpayer a great deal more if Porsche won the case months down the line. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

He's actually made good on his promise that he would do this, which is a step in the right direction for a politician... not an ideal situation to be in, but it's case of damage limitation and at least the legal costs aren't going into someone's back pocket.

Well if Livingstone pays for it then Cameron can pay for the Tories selling the family silver i.e. Privatisation Smile

Or what about Dame Shirley (aka Mrs Tesco) paying back all the money she spent to get votes

Rolling with laughter

great news. would be great if those car companies, could step in on the matter of speed bumps
as i know it cost them millions in warranty fix. lot of suspension and under car damage.
must be other ways to slow down traffic. other than speed bumps.

a car company that protects there costumers. truly great

Apparently hes also scrapped the idea of free congestion charge for vehicles <120g/km CO2. I wonder how Mercedes feel after heavily markerting that the Smart will be free from October Laughing 2006 '56 RRS TDV6 HSE, Java Black, Alpaca Interior, PTI, Sidesteps, 22" Stormers wrapped in 285/35/22 Toyo Proxes, Java Framed SC Grille, Java/Zambezi Side Vents, Matt Black LR3 Door Handles, Matt Black Lower Tailgate Trim, Colour coded lower body trims, Semi Smoked Taillights, Chrome Mirrors and Fog Light Bezels, Reflex Exhaust Back, Full Pentagon AutoGlass Privacy, Tasmod Sills, Clear Side Repeaters, pics in gallery!

Personally, I think a congestion covering the whole of London would be a great idea....anyone living within the M25 and owning a car would pay a nominal charge BUT anyone else would be 'hammered' for driving into the capital city Smile

I wonder if Boris will bring back the pigeons to Trafalgar Square?

Disagree - the very people who need to drive into London are those who live outside of the city. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Agree with VA.

Those INSIDE London congestion charge could maybe be incentivised to use (Shudder) public transport or car share?

If you need to drive in to London and pollute the city then you should pay OR get on a train or a Coach.

I'd happily take Public transport if it was clean, reliable, uncrowded and readily available.

I could then happily use my 4x4 for pleasure and churning up green lanes at the weekend Wink

I feel the whole eco issue is underpinned by sufferers of 'NIMBY' syndrome Sad
