Vibration pulling away in 1st gear when engine cold

Hi All,

I've only had the RRS SC (55 plate 34K miles) for a couple of weeks. (still got a big smile on my face Very Happy )

I've noticed that when I start the car in the morning i.e. engine is cold, and pull away in first gear their is a rather loud vibration that I can hear and feel on the cabin floor, i.e. with my LH foot, on the foot rest. It only lasts for a couple of seconds, and only seems to do it in first gear. As the engine warms-up the loudness and duration gets less and when fully up to temperature seems to go away completely. I guess there is some mechanical contact going on somewhere, maybe the exhaust etc, but I was just wondering whether this is a common problem, or a "feature".

I'm going to get under the car tonight and see if I can see anything obvious.

Thanks in advance

Hi all,

Just thought I would follow-up my own question.
My car has spent the last 2 days at the stealers. According to the service bod the vibration was due to a faulty Oxygen sensor. The oxygen sensor as it names suggests monitors the oxygen content in the exhaust, this signal is fed to the ECU, which can then modify the fuel/air mixture to acheive the perfect fuel/air ratio, i.e not too rich, not too weak. If the sensor fails, then the ECU has to guess the fuel/air ratio. Maybe the vibration was my engine was pinking Confused not sure.

The good news is, the relacement oxygen sensor fixed the vibration, and is was covered under warranty. They also did a good job on cleaning the car. Thumbs Up
