First I've heard of it and I keep a very close eye on this sort of thing, but that doesn't mean it's not true. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Wouldn't surprise me - the Royals have always been fans of LR cars. In that documentary that was on last year about Windsor Great Park, Phil the Greek was seen to be driving around in a Disco. That article doesn't seem very complimentary about the RRS, though... maybe not expensive enough for your average Forbes reader Wink

What was more interesting was the full report itself. They just dont get it !

I disagree with this RR v RRS arguement over luxury, I personally find the interior of the Sport in some instances much classier/sportier and a better place to sit. I can validate this by my experience at the weekend when I went out in my Dad's 2003 RR v8 Vogue , ouch , it felt strange...... the bonnett looked so weird from inside ( not flat like the sports ) , I felt so unconnected from a drivers point of view .... and the seats... YUK , they just felt so unsupportive.

Personally I would take the best of both cars and then LR could make the ultimate 4 x4 Smile

The folks we stayed with over new year have a new RR - and although the trim looks lovely from the outside, I'd agree that when you get in it's really not the same place to be as the RRS. I think what makes the RRS cabin feel so much more connected is the "surrounding" placement of the dash & centre console which you don't get in the RR. Have to say I prefer my RRS.

Will this mean that in a few years time ( maybe months ) we will see some very well priced RR's for sale ? personally I think they will drop like a stone especially the closer we get to the replacement RR arriving.

RR vs RRS

That's the trade I did. I had a 2005 RR; loved it. It's strong, stately, has a wonderfully secure and rich feeling to it (I don't mean financially, I mean in terms of quality feel).

Then I went in for an oil change on my 2005 RR, and there in the showroom sat a new, silver supercharged RRS (this was this past summer). It was love at first sight! I test drove first the non-supercharged model--great, sporty, etc. Then I drove the SC, and there was no looking back (I think the dealer enjoyed the trade-in experience much more than I did Confused )

Sure I can't lug as much stuff, and the kids (both now teenagers) don't have as much room in the back seat. BUT, it's much more fun to drive. In the RR, you lumber along; it's a big vehicle that feels like a big vehicle (although it is more nimble than many comparably sized SUVs). The RRS (esp the SC) is a sports car. It feels almost as quick as a former AMG Mercedes CLK 55 with the same quiet, tight confidence in maneuvering...lovely.

I had to help my sister-in-law move this weekend; put down the rear seats, and there was plenty of cargo room. It's no LR3 or RR in space back there, but then those vehicles are both not that much fun at 80 mph on the Merritt Parkway here in CT.

Plus in snow, deep mud and deep water, I've put both cars through hell, and the RRS does just as well as the RR. The only difference is that you feel higher up in the RR, so you feel as though you're in the living room looking out at that yucky real world down there. In the RRS you're in a cockpit, at ground level, right in the midst of it!

Just my 2 cents.

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Stornoway Grey

I agree with you. I have driven every variant of Range Rover ever made, some for longer than others but the cockpit feeling of the Sport does make it feel a lot more cocooned and safe and nimble. I love the feeling of it when I drive around, especially with privacy glass, I don't feel as if I am 'on show' as much as cars without it. That's why I dislike my wife's Z4 with the roof off. There's no privacy.

I may some day end up switching to the L322, but for the time being I simply adore driving the Supercharged Sport. I don't care what people say about it being based on the LR3 chassis. We all know that, and no, it doesn't have the same interior as the RR, but that was deliberate, they aimed the car at younger minded customers, and it has done well. L319 D4 HSE

Definitely! It's brought LR a whole echelon of customers that they wouldn't normally have had and reading some of the sales figures it seems like the RRS is the shot in the arm that LR really needed. Now, if only they could iron out some of the little niggles...

Forbes article was odd, comparing RRS/SC to LR3 and RR....
I came out of a RR into the RRS/SC and have loved every
day since then..the RR is too big and wallowy and whale like,
I like the 'sports'car feel of the RRS/SC, also its no slouch at
lugging stuff around.....I know cause I am moving box's between
my Apts here in NYC and I am amazed at how much stufff you can
jam in !! I love racing yellow Taxi's to and from the lights !!!!LOL
The look on their faces as you leave them standing is so amusing !!!
All this and its a Range Rover !!! What could be better.......
Chelsea winning the league again !!!!! C'mon you blues !!!!!!!!!!
