Oil consumption

I recall some prior postings regarding oil consumption, so excuse me if I'm plowing up old ground, I have 1800 miles on my RRS HSE and I'm down 1/2 Qt. of oil time to trade it in or should I consider this normal (I intend to call the dealer) any thoughts...

Every car is different, remember, your engine is like YOUR body, completely unique, we're all different and your car is the same.

It also depends on the way it is driven.

Let the car run in, adding oil as it needs it, it should bed down after a while, I think in it's first 3000 miles you should not be concerned. L319 D4 HSE

Well, I spoke with the dealer about being a half qt. low, their first question was do you notice any leaks? my reply was no, "I park in exactly the same spot each night" They proceeded to book an appointment for me to bring her in, I guess it's a her? They were rather concerned! Not the most interesting thread, but what the heck, I'll keep you posted...

I don't think it's really anything to worry about, esp at your amount of mileage. As RRUK says, all cars use oil differently and after the first few Ks it should all calm down and the only time you should then see any oil is when it's being changed Wink
