Holidaying in Australia

Have some friends visiting Australia later this year..

I'm drawing up a list of things to do, and don't want to miss anything. Would appreciate if those in the know can suggest what they consider to be the great things for people to do when visiting Australia (both the obvious and the not so obvious)

Diving on the Great Barrier Reef
Some deep sea fishing

If they are staying with you for any amount of time, maybe a trip along the great ocean road, stop at Warimbool, Port Fairy, and possibly end up at the Coonawarra wine region. Excellent 2-3 days driving, and give the sport a good run out.

Sydney, agree with the bridge climb, port stephens (dolphin and whale watching), blue mountains (Katoomba) - Echo point, seven sisters, Jenolea Caves etc

What time of year are they visiting? The Mornington Peninsula has diving, beaches (summer) and wineries and great restaurants (winter). Its only a short hop for you from where you are. You could easily spend a couple of days enjoying it in your RRS!!

Would this be the original Cairns that inspired the beautiful Cairns Blue on the RRS?

If so...I'll have to visit it one day...looks beautiful there. PJPR

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions! Had some of those but not others..

Looking like early November at this stage so weather should just be getting nice again. The problem is that there is just too much to try and do in two weeks!

2nd Rower if only two weeks and you plan to stay around Victoria, i think Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula and Great Ocean Road (before the flies wake from their winter slumber) would be a good bet..

Shmoogle, to get even a taste of some of the best parts of some of the key states i would suggest you would need to look at 4-6 weeks. Especially when it takes 2 days to get here and a day back Another Pommie Bar Steward down under
