FRIGGIN Freelander TWO!!!!

My friend has just purchased a 'Freelander2'. It looks quite nice. When I had a good little gander at the thing I found that they've got a lovely key that pushes into the dash with an 'on an off' button. Then I find that the center console and steering wheel and dash have all come from a RRS... Maaaan... I feel a tad cheated.THEN!!!!! I thought id see if the windows were 'one touch' operated AND THEY WERE!!! The cherry on the cake was when he locked the car and the mirrors folded in automatically!
And to rub salt in the wound , he told me that his model is only one up from the bottom spec... The GS...

Land Rover are taking the pis*. Is there any way that we can get the windows to go up with one touch or the mirrors to fold in automatically???

But for the money the FL2 is expensive - it needs these things to help it sell. The RRS expense is the bits you can't see. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Originally I was getting a FL2 but when I compared the prices and seen that I could get a base RRS for less, I changed my order to a TDV8 ... I know its not a base model but have never regretted the decision to buy the RRS Thumbs Up
Only two things I could wish for, manual control of the hight of the vehicle (have been talking to Matzker Thumbs Up ) and for some Off Rovin sliders. Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

Laughing

you can get very well specced FFRR's (used) for the same money as a FL2 - I know what I'd prefer

Also don't forget that the FL2 came to market after the RRS and so was privy to a few extra little bits on spec that weren't available for RRS development. You will probably find that when they revamp the RRS, it'll get the other bits too. But as others have said, the RRS is a in a different sector from the FL2. And compared with the old FL, it's bloody expensive.

Try putting an MP3 cd in & see the way it displays & navigates the folders & track listings Thumbs Up

Compared to the “dinosaur era” display we get in our RRS’s Rolling Eyes

Not to mention the vastly superior Bluetooth Phone integration.

Can’t say I agree with you there at all Shrinky. I often drive “Mrs Rupert’s” freelander & love it.

I think it’s a very tidy, nippy, well planted car Thumbs Up

Just as nice to drive as my RRS.

Well, I have both cars and can categorically say that they are both great........as for the FL2 being Censored to drive, I suggest you actually try one - far superior to the FL1 (which could not be difficult) and handles very car like indeed. If you see one in your rear mirror whilst chugging along in the TDV6, be afraid, that TD4 pot is potent and for the record, quicker than the RRS too....and by a whole second!!!! i like my FL2 its a great car to drive and if quick for a car of this size.

I do think its expensive but nothing else meets the FL2 in terms of ownership and fun. So its worth the extra money.

Both are great cars.

IMO the RRS is the true heritor of the original RR, offering a perfect compromise between every day road or motorway driving and intensive offroad use.

The Freelander gives you a great all purpose performance and a honest offroad behavior.

Till 2005 I owned VW, Audi and BMW. My wife has driven two VW Golf. We are very happy with our Home Fleet.

So he goes my advice: if you own a RRS and you need an second car, go for the FL2. If you don't need of a second car, then you have to create the need Wink .
