It's attached to the washer bottle, which is behind the front bumper, under the nearside (UK) wheel-arch.

O.k., I'll answer this one myself.
The pump was rusted solid. I replaced it, and everything worked o.k.

It's never worked on mine, apparently it needs an electronic device plugging in to reset the service indicator. My local independent garage does it for me.

As for the metal rings, the guy in the parts dept. said the mechanics in the workshop don't use the metal rings, they use cable ties.
So that's what I'll use.
