I just think it looks a bit bulky especially with the screen down. It will also cut off the view from your reiw view mirror. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Another option would be to fit 2 - one each side behind each seat as in the Disco3 Question

Expensive though Sad

see example here http://www.prestigeaudio.co.uk/auto/discov...39-89.html

Is there an echo in here?!!!! Wink

Roofscreen package 2

Twin Alpine 10.4" roofscreens (one either side)
Alpine DVD player
2 pairs Alpine headphones
Usual price £1995
RRSport forum price - £1680

Two drop down screens would be the nuts! The Alpine is very slim when closed, but does totally block the rear view mirror when open, hence the twin screen option which gives you a large screen and none of the other issues.

The eagle eyed out there will have spotted that on the single roofscreen install we have to move the alarm sensors a little but as the alarm self calibrates on arming, this isn't an option (although I wouldn't advise leaving the screen down when leaving the car for a while as it will block the alarm's coverage of the boot area.

My question can you make the logic seven sound like the extra grand should, that you pay from new. Question

Nope, as the saying goes, you cannot polish a turd!!!

However, a grand spent on an aftermarket system would send pretty special!

Is there a way to get a an analogue line level output from the head unit, and install aftermarket amps and speakers? A 2-channel signal would be sufficient for me.

Not really or easily since the amplifier is connected to the head unit via MOST. You can use a JL CleanSweep to convert 4 current amplifier outputs into a 4 "re-equalized" line-outs, but you might need to never touch your volume again if the system does volume based equalization.

Supposedly someone has a MOST device that will give you line-out, but I haven't seen it in action.

If anyone has information on such a device, I would be very interested. The
head unit looks so tightly integrated in to the car, that it cannot be replaced.

So my plan is to
get the system without Logic 7, upgrade speakers and amps, and use an
iPod with "Apple lossless" files as my music source.

Promlem is, my bikes didn't fit inside the RRS, so I'll be heading to the Disco 3 forum now. Razz

But i will keep monitoring this thread...

I have never seen a MOST interface which gives you an analogue RCA output but would also be interested in seeing one!

There is always a solution to such challenges - we generally install a stand alone system in such vehicles with the second head unit installed somewhere also such as the ashtray:

or the rooflining:

or anywhere else for that matter!!

This gives you carte blanche to install some juicy amps and speakers!

A standalone system is always an option of course, but I'd like to keep
the Navigation and PTI etc. I am sure it can be done, but it will
be a bit complex... Smile

I am a bit surprised that no vendors offer amps with MOST input
or a solution for integration with analogue signals. It is obvious the car makers are heading in that direction,
and if the aftermarket doesn't adapt it will disappear.

I tracked down the person that told me he had access to a MOST interface with line out capability for Land Rover. It turns out he doesn't and it's for some BMW system. He thought Land Rover still used BMW head units, like pre-05 Range Rover. Sorry.
