when you're ill...

I've been pretty darned lucky this year and I don't think I have fallen ill once, until 3 days ago that is. The wife has been ill a number of times, but hers' is stress induced and because she flies all over Europe for her job and is perpetually exhausted I am sure.

I was hoping I'd gotten away with it but one day in the Sales and I must have been infected by some airbourne chav germs! Mad

It made me think though, that when you are ill, it makes you feel differently about things. I guess it's because your defences are weak if not broken completely and you don't have the energy to care about things as much. My example is, I was thinking about my car and the amount of time I have spent getting tiny niggles fixed so that it's up to my standard, and I just suddenly thought what a pain in the ass it's all been and I should get rid of it and buy something cheap.

Afterall, it's one of the thirstiest cars on the road, cost a lot of money to buy, costs a lot to run and has been a very time consuming purchase all in all. I'd be much better off with a brand new Honda Civic diesel that does 50mpg and cost £15K maximum....wouldn't I? Plus, it would NEVER go wrong.

Why does illness make you think so (ir)rationally?? Question L319 D4 HSE

Yeah i get these thoughts too sometimes.. although thank God i come to my senses.. I always think a nice £12k Bmw 320d would suffice completely..

You could live your life like that, plenty of people do. It all depends where your enjoyment lies, i like to drive nice cars, so am willing to devote the time and effort (and money) to put up with them, just for the grin factor it gives you. Im pretty sure everyone on here is the same.

Just think if you didn't spend the time and money on the car, where else would you spend it? down the gym..? pfft..
I always think after a spate of nice cars, i'll probably settle down a bit and go a bit more sensible, but on the other hand, lifes short, you only live once..
Hopefully you will shake off ur cold soon mate and be back to normal!
Get well soon..

Wink I do know what you mean to some extent, but you only live once - spend your money while you have it and before the kids come along!! Now stop it - you're obviously feeling better! However - if your wife submits to your foul and perverted ways could you post some pictures? Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
