United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Bonatti Grey
Rear Diff lock

Hi,

I'm new to the site and got an RRS TdV6 on order for delivery
March 06.
As I have still a little time to amend the order has anyone got any advice on whether its worth spending the extra on a rear diff lock or not?

I don't plan any major off roading in it, so just want an able veh for all weather conditions and the occasional muddy field/rough track.

So do I need it? Any suggestions? MY08 RRS TDV8 HSE, Stornoway Grey, Ebony and Zabrano, sunroof, hybrid tv, premium ICE, rear E diff, privacy glass, side steps, mud flaps, S/Grey mirror covers, Venture shield, tasmods, smoked indicators, Larini sports exhaust, etc, etc.

I would say no unless you are going for serious offroading the extra £1000 would be lost when sold. RRS 2.7 TDV6 HSE Zambezi silver,Alpaca.

The rear diff lock is in my humble opinion an unecessary "toy" which serves little purpose that the existing ETC doesn't already achieve. For some reason the US market demands that diff locks are available before they are prepared to "credit" the vehicle with an offroader label. To meet that demand LR make a rear diff available as an optional extra but I can promise you that in the real world the only time you would ever know you had that item fitted was when you paid the original invoice.

Agree with the others that the rear diff lock is unnecessary unless you're going to off-road your RRS seriously - they are phenomenally capable off road straight from the box without the rear diff lock Cool Martin

I ordered it on my S/C but in the US it is only a $500 option, (currently approximately 280 GBP). For that money I'd say why not? I do know that in recent snow/ice, my S/C performed fantastically even with the stock tyres, as long as terrain response was in the snow/gravel/grass setting. How much the rear diff lock 'helped' is unknown.

Many thanks,
I think you've all saved me £500 plus running the risk of LR adding their latest unannounced price rise to my order.

Best wishes for the New Year. MY08 RRS TDV8 HSE, Stornoway Grey, Ebony and Zabrano, sunroof, hybrid tv, premium ICE, rear E diff, privacy glass, side steps, mud flaps, S/Grey mirror covers, Venture shield, tasmods, smoked indicators, Larini sports exhaust, etc, etc.
