GUY SALMON MAIDSTONE

Placed an order for a RRS TDV6 HSE 07 Model on the 1st July 06 and paid my deposit of £1000. Did this because I was assured this would get me one of their 7 RRS September build batch. I was told early August that my order had now been placed on RR. On Saturday 12th August I was told their allocation had been cut from 7 to 3 because of the V8 RR and unfortunately I was no 4 order so now have to wait until December for delivery.
2 other dealers assure me they can get me a September build vehicle for delivery October/early November.
Can I trust any of them?
I really feel Guy Salmon have taken me for a ride but ubfortunately not in my RRS. Twisted Evil Banging Head

I would go to the others! The RRS & FFRR are built in different factories and shouldn't effect each other especially as the 2 now have different engines. In case you didn't know the RRS and D3 are built on the same production line. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I dont know what to do for the best.
How difficult can it be to spend £50k!!

Just been told by another dealer that I have the choice of dash colour with Ivory interior now on the 07 model.
Guy Salmon didnt give me the choice.

Update

Well after all the problems I was told in October to expect my vehicle to be a month early as they had just received their november vehicles in october. So we scrambled and put our car on the market not wanting to be without a car for two months if it didnt happen.
We are now 2nd December and my original delivery date was the 6th December. I was told on the 28th Nov that the vehicle was complete and within a day or so Guy Salmon Maidstone would have a Chassis number from where they could arrange to pull it to Maidstone and that should take a further 10 days.
Today is the 2nd December and they still do not have a chassis number and dont appear to do anything until I ask them to.
I have purchased several BMW's in the past and never had so much frustration.
I am beginning to wish i had moved dealers and gone for the TDV8 as I am sure it would have been just as quick.
I cant say i ever want to repeat this process after all paying £50k cash should give me a little pleasure but I now feel lackluster about the whole thing.
John

Re: Update

John,

I went through a similar process (dealer didn't do much until I pestered), however trust me when I say its worth it when you finally get it

Due to the slight delays I faced and the fact I was trying to sell my 5 series privately (had a buyer but I was delaying it due to a unknown delivery date for my RRS) the dealer ended up matching the private sale price and taking the 5 off me instead - I was happy with that

Still unable to get information and what seems to be a lack of customer service from the Maidstone office I had the audacity to complain to customer service at the sytner group.
I then had a phone call from the dealer principal basically telling me he didnt want to supply me.
He actually said that he was concerned that he was concerned at entering into a relationship that is not going to give me the buying experience I am looking for and he is therefore more than happy to refund my deposit and cancel my order.
Obviously because I had the audacity to he wanted to put me in my place.
I am stunned and may well now go and buy an X5 though its not really what I want to do but am not prepared to go through this all over again.

Any suggestions would help as I have £50k burning a hole in my pocket and in my heart I still want a RRS.
I may now wait for a TDV8 but at this minute am stunned so dont know what to do.

Given a further delay in delivery I had the audacity to complain to the customer service manager at Sytner HO and have have just had a call from the dealer principle who in a nutshell told me he didn't want my order. What he actually said was that he was concerned at entering into a relationship that is not going to give me the buying experience I am looking for and he is therefore more than happy to refund my deposit and cancel my order.
Obviously because I had the audacity to complain he wanted to put me in my place.
I am still a little stunned with £50k burning a hole in my pocket I am now not sure what to do.
I dont want to go through another 6 months of this but on the other hand I still want a RRS.
I have yet to tell my wife who's car it was to be.
Having said that there is no way I would ever buy from the Sytner group again. I have had better service buying a box of chocolates than I have had spending £50k of hard earned cash.

Any suggestions would help.

You could speak to a broker about sourcing you one from the channel. They're not all complete shysters either - I have one that I'm very happy with which I can PM you the details if you are interested. Also, Kam may also be able to help out.

Chin up, Jon it's not the end of the world. If nobody can supply you an RRS, then just make the cheque for 50k out to "Shmoogle Benevolent Fund" and I'll make sure it's well invested Laughing

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

And there are other dealers who post on this forum who I'm sure would be very happy to deal with you.

Talking of which, haven't seen them around for a while. I don't believe that they are that busy.............. I wonder if LR have smacked a few dealers wrists for participating on owners forums! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

After basically telling me to stuff my £50k the dealer principal arranged someone from his finance company to call me the same day to arrange the return of my £1000 deposit that they had for 6 months. This was Friday and he promised to post the cheque on the following Monday, on the Thursday I chased it as I hadnt seen the cheque whic only had to come 2 mile and the cheque arrived on the Saturday dated the Friday.

The level of customer service unchanged with me needing to chase something promised a week before and nothing had happened until I chased it.

I am pleased to say I now have my Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black with Ivory interior 20" wheels, sun roof, Supercharge Grills and Side Steps as my original order which Guy Salmon couldnt achieve in 6 months.

Ian from Findmyrangerover.com found it in 10 minutes and it was delivered to my door 10 days later by Stratstone Mayfair London who treated me like a real customer and from whome I had more customer service in 10 days than I had from Guy Salmon Maidstone in 6 months.

I have to say I think they screwed my order up and took the opportunity to get out of it.

Thanks to this website for the input that put me in touch with Findmyrangerover.com

Hi Baron
Hopefully there will be a next time and that will definitely be Barrets of Ashford though I have no complaints to date how Stratstone of Mayfair have treated me. Its just a little too far to go for minor issues.
Regards
John
