Strange clang on start up???

Hi, I apologise if this may have been covered elsewhere. I am new to this forum thing!! From new on the first start of each day, there is a loud metallic clang shortly after start up. I sent it back to Guy Salmon Sheffield last week and they said its characteristic!! Anyone else experienced anything like this? RRS TDV8 HSE. Stornoway Grey. Ebony Lthr. Privacy Glass. TV.

Paul,

Can't say I have ever heard this noise no.

Don't let the dealer fob you off until it is resolved though, and please keep us posted as to the solution. Now: Range Rover Vogue TD6, JE Stage 1. (Green!)

Hello paulL,
Is this an engine noise or is it something to do with being in access mode when reversing out of the drive or garage. Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

Guys, thanks for the V prompt repies. The noise seems to me to be associated with the starter motor disengagement, but is pretty loud/metallic and only occurs on first start of the day irrespective of outside temperature (its been doing it from 1st Sep). Cheers Paul RRS TDV8 HSE. Stornoway Grey. Ebony Lthr. Privacy Glass. TV.

Mine has always done this. It does it more when the wife drives Smile
It is the starter motor still turning after the engine fires up. You have to release the key very quickly when it fires. Matt

Can't say I've heard it on mine... but I suppose I don't keep the key turned in the ignition when I'm starting it. I'll listen the next time I start it up.

I have no such noise on mine. I have sometimes heard the steering clunk in access mode while reversing off our cambered driveway. Positivley no starter motor clunks ever. Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.
