Turbo lag

I have a RRS diesel and it has terrible turbo lag, do you all put up with this? I have spoken to my dealer about chipping it, they said NO it will void the warrenty.

How many miles has your car done?
It will improve. Ours has now done nearly 10k miles and it is a different car to what it was when new. Matt

RRS ownership for 1 yr, then D3 for 2 yrs. Then cut back to old bangers and working my way back up through two Peugeots in 6 months. Now got Saab 9-5 2.3t and enjoying the performance!

Agreed - I am 5k miles in now and much less frustrated with performance (although obviously it's no Cayenne Turbo). If performance is still an issue there's always Turbochip's upgrade to consider. A few folks here have had it done with very successful results and allegedly no warranty issues.

Thank you Shmoogle, can you tell me where to contact superchips please and thanks to mpwox11 the car has only done 2600 miles but I cant imagine it getting much better!

i can second the point above, im 7500 miles in, and the turbog lag does reduce significantly as the engine beds in..
i bougth a tunit box, which at the time thought was the best way to go (being a removable device) for warranty issues, but i think turbochip would have been the best way to go really..

The turbochip does cancel out some of the turbo lag, but more than anything it is something that seems less the more miles you do. On the other hand I have had the discussion with one of our own fitters and he says it is more like me getting used to it being there, because when he drove mine recently he thought it was just as bad as it always was. Rolling Eyes Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

I only get to drive mine a few times a week as my wife drives it most of the time. While I agree there would be some truth to the fact that over time you get used to the lack of performance of the RRS; they definately do improve as the engine beds in. Over about 5k miles it gets noticable better. The delay when initially pulling away is much less. Ours has now done 10k miles and it is definately better (quicker pulling away, more responsive, quicker in Sport mode) than it was when less than 5k miles. Matt

Personally I always switch to sports mode if I'm at a junction where I need that little bit more it makes the world of difference. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Cairns Blue

We can significantly reduce the turbo lag with our upgrade as we are able to raise the 'off boost' fuelling which in itself produces more torque ( and slighty higher exhaust gases to get the turbo 'spinning' earlier)
