In Vehicle Phone Book (Non-Cradle)

I've read here over the past months that there is a way to record numbers/names into the car's phonebook when using Bluetooth. I flipped through the manuals last night (my 1st night with my new RRS!), and didn't find anything. Could somebody tell me how to access that option? There is a phonebook option when the phone is connected via Bluetooh, but it just tells me that the phonebook is empty. Am I in the wrong spot?

to my understanding, you need a cradle to upload phonebook.
without cradle, it just connects via bluetooth and you can use the cars buttons to make and receive calls (suffices for my needs) until i see a cradle going cheap on ebay that is..! Past: Bmw M3 E92 Coupe 57, 335d Coupe 56, Audi RS4 06, RR Sport TD HSE 05,

As far as I'm aware, phone book sync only works via the cradle.

There is no way to store names/numbers in the car?

You can store names and numbers via the on board system. Use voice activation and say Phone Store Name. The rest is easy. Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

Yes... and do you really want to enter your existing phonebook into the car manually?

You can also store numbers against Nav POI's or marked points that you set in the system, which will need a linked phone to dial out of of course.

Pity that its not possible to connect the SIM card in the tracking units we all have to the car so that you could make free calls!

Phone Store Name - Thats what I was missing! If I want to see a list after I store them do they show up in the phonebook section on the radio, or do they show up elsewhere? I would only put in 15 or so that I use most often. Also, if I receive a call from one of those numbers would the ID show up with their name?

They do not show up anywhere you can ask for them "Play Directory" and you can dial them "Dial Name", when you receive a incoming call it will only show the number on the ascreen not any name. TBH it is a poor BT kit as my brother has a new audi and that works very well and they have a crale for the 6230i which we seem to have been waiting for for ever.

Lets not even talk about cradles Exclamation Exclamation

I have a Sony Ericsson that would fit the cradle that LR said that they were making (Cradle CR-9, Part No. XVE 500040). Supposedly they aren't making it yet, or they've stopped already. Who knows... Is there anybody in the UK that can find out for me if it is available? Is so, I'll call overseas and order it. Please??

rweintra, I have called my local dealer and they say:

a) they are available from Land Rover UK
b) the dealer in Coventry has one in stock on the shelf.

The phone number for the dealer in Coventry (Guy Salmon) is (from the US) 00 44 2476 839 500 (ask for Parts Department). The dealer I rang was Guy Salmon Stratford-upon-Avon, 00 44 1789 205 990.

They say the cost including UK Tax at 17.5% is £144.44 Shocked

Hope this helps. Martin

Martin, you are a lifesaver! I called and ordered it, and you were right, one left. I should have it in a week. That was so kind of you, thank you so much.
