I was all up for painting my mirrors until I unfortunately banged one on the side of a lorry whilst squeezing past, which smashed the mirror glass. Mirror housing survived with a scratch.
But if it had been painted I would have also had to have had that repainted.
I don't plan to repeat it........but Exclamation So now I can't decide.

I also wonder how the painted housings would survive when off roading Question TDV6 - gone
TDV8 - gone

Josh, I did exactly the same thing as you when squeezing down the outside lane at traffic lights past a stationary van with f Censored king great coach-size mirrors. Mirror knocked back inwards and glass ended-up cracked and dangling. The colour-coded cap had plenty of lacquer and so only needed the scuffs compounding out (Farecla G3-G10). Refitting the bloody mirror.., NOW THAT'S AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT STORY!!! Big Cry

There's a knack to doing it... I never learnt it mind you. But after breaking the first replacement glass trying to fit it and calling on one of the service techs to do the second one I'd bought, I felt better when he broke one too! God knows what the fitments are like by they're a right bastid to fit. Evil or Very Mad

I've broken two in total now S. Asked the dealer about refitting and he said exactly the same, there's a knack, but they still break some some too. And, I wouldn't mind, but the bloody passenger side glass wont adjust fully-in and remains sticking out proud of the casing (anybody else noticed?).
