Dog has chewed rear seatbealts

I need to replace the 2 rear seatbelts as the dog has chewed away at them when I left him in the boot for 5 mins.
I have telephoned my dealer and you'd think I was talking about a different make of car. They'll get back to me, and also let me know when the first service is due Confused
Does anyone have any experience in replacing the seatbelts? on any LR?
Can you get them from Halfords?
I can imagine getting my dealer to supply and fit will be a small fortune.

And when were you told the first service was due? I'm at 9500 miles now and I think I'd be happy with one soon, there's a few small rattles starting, although for the last couple of thousand miles it's run well.

If you put your puppy in the back of the car remember to give him an old shoe or perhaps a new bone to occupy him, those seatbelts must be very tempting! watch the leather headrests as well! He's already had a chunk of my headrest in his dog van I bought for him but didn't mind so much as it was tatty to start with. I'm not sure whether to get him a mate for Christmas now, I don't know whether that will make things better or worse!

Try a cage, a lot cheaper in the long run. Lintran do some excellent solid sided ones or Barjo or Guardsman if you want to be able to see the dog.

As Martin said - get a Dog Bag, they're great. Keeps all the mud & hairs contained too. See my gallery for pics of it in the Sport.

Thanks,
Yeah I'm going to get a dog bag, a large one. I'll use a muzzle for now.
Apparantly the seatbelts can be repaired at reasonable cost, I'm getting a quote next week, LR dealer still haven't got back to me about the belts but did let me know that service intervals are every 15,000 or when a prompt appears on the dash.

Nooo if it eats through seat belts it will eat through a soft cage. If seen enough dogs get out of collapsable metal ones let alone fabric. If you want a cage that contains hair get a Lintran box - they are expensive but very good.

Not sure I'd be happy myself with having seatbelts repaired, especially as they are so critical to safety of passengers.

If it was the driver's belt being repaired would you be content with that knowing YOUR personal safety could be compromised?

Service intervals are 15,000 miles as far as I know, 7500 seems very short.

The way I am going I'll be having mine serviced well before my first year is up. I'm averaging 500 miles a week at the moment. L319 D4 HSE

You are absolutely right there RRUK, a repair just will not do, the trim specialist who hinted a repair was possible doubted the safety of a repair when he viewed the damage.
However good news!!
How much do you think landrover charge for each brand new rear seat belt??
£75?
£120 each??

Well no, just £20 each!! so that's quite good I think and gives every confidence in future direct dealer purchases for spares/parts.
Of course I haven't taken up there £95 per hour fitting service when my trim specialist has quoted a tenner!

So all in it is costing me less than a new tyre...so no big complaint really.

Thats the problem with Land Rover dealers - the bits are reasonably priced butv the labour charge to fit them is ludicrous!
I'm having a new rear crossmember (rear chassis) fitted to my Defender.
Parts = £385, Labour = 12 hours at £85ph from local dealer
Full job done by Land Rover non franchise specialist, all incusive price, £385! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Get a Lintran Box as everyone else has recommended. We have one in our Discovery and find it is much better than dog guards, keeps the dogs secure, stops the spread of dog-hair and is easily cured.
